Resurrection University (West Suburban College of Nursing) Spring 2011 applicants

Published

Hi all!

I'm in a process of applying to the Resurrection University (formerly West Suburban College of Nursing) for BSN Spring 2011 program (generic 16 months option). I started this thread to get and give some support along the process. Let's help each other out and maybe get know better before the semester starts! I'm about to start my final (fall) semester at Wilbur Wright College, I already took the TEAS exam, submitted my online application, letters of recommendation and essay. I'm just waiting for my official transcript with summer school grades. I'll be going for the guaranteed admission program. If anyone has questions or just want to share his/hers experiences- please post your comments! GOOD LUCK Y'ALL !! :)

oh goodness well yes everyone should keep on them to make sure all is taken care of re registration. I think they are having some growing pains (their registrar and some other members of staff are new) so everyone needs to look after themselves unfortunately.

Pimpushka, if you can do it more power to you - I know I couldn't! Do you plan on being a nurse while going through med school or for several years before hand?

yes, definitely! I want to be a nurse for at least 1 or 2 years before even applying to med school. I just want to see if there will be a "chemistry" between me and patients. If not, I will go into research or teaching.

oh very cool plan :). So interesting to hear what other students are looking forward to. I definitely want to work for a few years before figuring out what to focus my MSN on. The hopes of an MSN will definitely keep me motivated in getting the best grades I can during the RESU program!

Regarding the CLEP exams does anyone know whether RESU follows the College Board/ACE recommendations of allowing a score of 50 (out of 80) as passing? I was so glad to see that online because I had for some reason been thinking that I needed to get 80% correct which is harder on the new exam!

Yes they do, i had spoke to Juan Miranda a while back and he told me that i need to get at least a 50% to get credit for the class.

ohh fantastic, has anyone taken it yet or knows someone who has taken the new info systems and computer applications exam? (I believe this past year the focus of the material was changed slightly)

do you guys know where we can get a complete book list? I went to the online bookstore, and I'm afraid it isn't right b/c they have a med/surg book listed for foundations, but no foundations book. also, that's the book list for the fall 10 term, not spring. I just want to get on amazon asap, but not buy the wrong things.

my guess is that it's not completely updated yet. I would just call the enrollment management office to see if there is a current one. Otherwise they'll probably have it available on the registration days.

Do any of you know if they are going to post our lab schedule on the student portal or how do we find out which one's we got?

As soon as they register you for the lab sections, it shows up on the student portal under class schedule. She also emailed me letting me know I was registered.

p.s. Imuens, we have to get 50 out of 80 questions right - not 50% (which would be 40 questions). If that's what you meant, then great, just making sure

yea that was what i meant.

yes all classes should show up on the student portal. Well it looks like I'll be the first of our little chat group taking the info systems exam, as I'm scheduled for wednesday. I think that I'll do okay but I just get nervous as it's really the one thing standing in the way of actually starting classes in January! eek, I will let you know how it goes and what stands out.

Good luck wookiejm! I wish I was taking it sooner but I have to study for my other 2 classes as well.

Does anyone know if they actually need the results of the immunizations, or do they just need the dates that we had them? Like could we just upload a page that has all the dates of each immunization?
