Hi all!
I'm in a process of applying to the Resurrection University (formerly West Suburban College of Nursing) for BSN Spring 2011 program (generic 16 months option). I started this thread to get and give some support along the process. Let's help each other out and maybe get know better before the semester starts! I'm about to start my final (fall) semester at Wilbur Wright College, I already took the TEAS exam, submitted my online application, letters of recommendation and essay. I'm just waiting for my official transcript with summer school grades. I'll be going for the guaranteed admission program. If anyone has questions or just want to share his/hers experiences- please post your comments! GOOD LUCK Y'ALL !! :)
Pimpushka - Do you live in OP or chicago? I don't know if they have it anywhere else, but check out the PCC centers. A couple of years ago, that's where I went. They have a sliding fee card, so for most visits I only had to pay $5. The OBGYN for PCC is actually at the West Sub Hosp. but I don't think you can apply for it there. Here's the site for it: PCC - Welcome To PCC Wellness Centers
Also if you have kids, you probably qualify for All-kids, which has a moms and babies program, w/ barely any copay and thats through the government. Hope this helps!
hello everyone :)I need to ask you this because I'm a little puzzled. Do we really need a health insurance? Sure, health insurance is not a bad thing, but I moved here three years ago, I'm struggling to pay my way through college and health care insurance will be a big financial burden. What if I'm registered in one of the free community healthcare clinics? Does anyone know if health insurance is mandatory and maybe you know some cheap students- friendly insurance plans? Thanks!
Yes it's mandatory. Good suggestions from ajryan.
Hell All--
I'd be interested if getting a card through a clinic qualifies... I have temporary 6-month insurance through blue cross blue shield (I lost my job in August and my insurance ended at the end of September) and it is $67 a month for my age/gender/etc. But it is non renewable. BCBS of IL and Amana are comparable for catastrophic or basic health care costs. It's about $115 a month with very basic coverage and the highest deductibles. It will be less if you're younger.. in your 20's, I'm sure.
Has anyone taken the CLEP tests for Human Growth and Development and Information Systems? I'm scheduled to take them in a couple of weeks and was curious as to their difficulty. I've been studying online and just ordered a couple of study guides.
Great to hear from everyone - so interesting to what everyone is interested in. The variety of answers highlights how many different options exist in the nursing field which is awesome.
Re health insurance, I believe that RESU offers an accident/illness plan though I'm not sure of the premium.
Does anyone else think its super funny to see ads for RESU on this website and elsewhere (I saw it on washingtonpost.com as well!)
I'm signed up for the first day of registration, anyone else?
I requested to be on the first day for registration as well, but haven't received a confirmation. Did they email you or is it in our account?
Also wondering if anyone is planning to do work study and if you've talked to Mr. Bollenbacher about it yet. Ms. Howell from the financial aid office said it might not be available next quarter when we start.
I know I would eventually like to get an advanced degree in nursing, I'm thinking CRNA, but we'll see. I want to be an ER or OR nurse - where ever the action is.
Looking forward to meeting you all! ( this is us in a year and a half!! --> )
You guys gonna say i'm crazy, but i'm actually planning to be enrolled at ResU and finish all my pre-med classes at my community college (I'm thinking about med school once I'm done with nursing) AND keep my lab assistant job at wilbur wright. I don't know how I'm gonna do it all, but I'm working two jobs and I'm juggling 18 credits this semester and it's working pretty good, I am still able to get some decent sleeping hours. I'm going to ResU today to give them the deposit and sign up for the class registration :) I'm so excited!
