reported to board

Published

I was fired, reported to board for diversion.   recently accepted into an assistance program,  just signed up with affinity however,  account isn't active yet as they are waiting for paperwork from the board.  I feel defeated before I even start this journey.   isolated. ashamed and feeling so anxious about what will come next.   any suggestions?  currently out of work as I resigned from current position because of my restrictions.   thanks for reading

I felt the same way . Hang n there and just do what they tell you.  It takes a while for the board to finalize everything.  You can even work while u are waiting since nothing will be on your license right now.  I did .  Then when my case came up I told my employer and she worked with me on it. Good luck!

thank you for that information.   I'll start looking into it.   so, do you tell them during interview that you are in a monitored program?  do they ask why?  just trying to figure this all out

So for me it was a long time ago but I was advised by my CM not to tell prospective employers until the "Do you have any questions?" portion of the  interview. That way you might have a general idea if how the interview had gone before reveling this fact. Hopefully you will use resouces within your recovery community to scope out employers likely to hire someone in your position.

I was the 1st nurse in this position to be hired where I work and we have become a haven for nurses working through diversion/probation. MY DON likes to say that she loves us because we are the only employees that she knows are sober,

Investigative report on Boards abuse of power. We and our work is mentioned

Interesting read. Especially the part that says it teachers the investigator that all nurses are guilty for the complaint filed against them

Yes! All of that.  The start is sooo scary.  You have it though.  As a friend in my nursing support says, “one foot in front of the other.”I’ve been through the same, and am happily in a great nursing job.  That shame will bring you down, but no everyone has it, we all just deal with it differently.  You’re not a bad person, you may have done bad things, but you’re not a bad person.  Keep your head up, and do the next right thing.  That’s all you can do!

not sure I have what it takes.  had multiple interviews,  all turned me down when I told them I'm in a monitoring program.   most say, reapply when your restrictions are lifted.  I don't know how you have the determination to contine

What type of places are you applying at?

I tried a couple LTC facilities,  a psychiatric hospital, an admission/discharge nurse, and addiction medicine clinic.  so far, no one wants to hire a nurse in a monitoring program.   I have also applied at  MCO, dialysis and a plasma center.  waiting to hear from tbem

I will pray to the God of my understanding that the dialysis job come through for you. Many nurses in monitoring work in dialysis.

What are you restrictions?

no narcotics,  no home health,  schools, agency nursing and have supervision

It’s probably the no narcotics that’s holding you back. How long is the restriction? Are you able or willing to commute outside your area? Prayers and good vibes you find something soon
