Hi there,
congratulations for the offer. I just want to know do LTC hire nurses with reprimand on their licenses? Which area are you located on? I don't know where to go, my license is in trouble because of my previous employer lying on me. I don't know where to start the fight from. I have all the evidence, I initially didn't submit to board but now I feel like I should. But I don't know where to begin with... and I am scared of so many things.. I never want to work in hospital, but will LTCs ever hire me? I have 3 yrs of experience in LTC.
I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I seriously would consult an attorney for advice. I think it would be very helpful for you, especially an attorney who defends nurses!
I am in Wisconsin. I did have a couple LTC facilities turn me down with the restrictions but I just kept trying and filling out tons of applications. Get yours out there, eventually you will find a place that will be compassionate and caring and will hire you.
In the meantime, breathe!! consult with an attorney and take their advice. Let me know how things turn out. I do feel you would have better luck in LTC however.

My CM wrote me a brief letter outlining the stips I had and how long I have been in and when it is expected to end. She also mentioned that I was totally compliant to date.
Being up front and honest was the best way for me. Hold your head high and let them know that it has made you a better person and a better nurse. I chose to remain in LTC for the duration of my contract. In all honesty, I like the hours a lot better anyway!
LTC, dialysis, psych hospitals, and even some free standing ER's have been very monitoring friendly.
Hang in there, you have got this!
Hi there,
I need a piece of advise as well. The facility where I worked trying to throw their balls on me. Sadly I am victimized and I don't want my license to be reprimanded for that. I just have a question, will nursing homes ever hire nurses with reprimands? I am seriously blind, don't know where to go. Please advise.

Thank you for the reply. I am in Wisconsin too. In Milwaukee. I like nursing homes far better than hospitals but not sure how I approach them. My license isn't restricted. The BON wants me to do some 3 hours of nursing education course.Do you have any advise on how to approach?
Almost 5 years ago I was exactly where you are now, just about the same situation and I want you to know that you can also make it through it.
After a took time off to do everything my monitoring program asked of me: evaluation and inpatient rehab. I found a job, as a nurse, outside a hospital that I have learned to love. I even became Board Certified in my new specialty.
During my job interview I disclosed my participation in my monitoring program and I said “I self reported because I found myself in need of help to deal with personal issues”, that’s all I said.
I hope this information is helpful and gives you hope. I’m here if you need me, feel free to message me.
BTW: there are many inpatient and outpatient places that are willing to work with us. Keep applying and don’t give up.

Hello, thank you so much for reply. I am not in monitoring program. BON have issued 3 hours of nursing ethics course for me for a minor mistake I made. But even it is a simple order, it will show up in orders and discipline page on board’s website and I am scared of that. I don't know how to open up to potential employer. With that fear, I havent even applied for a job. I never wanted to work in hospitals though. But I am scared to even try LTCs. It's so embarrasing. Any thoughts on if LTCs would hire or not?

You can even work while u are waiting since nothing will be on your license right now. I did . Then when my case came up I told my employer and she worked with me on it. Good luck!
I recently was terminated for a terrible mistake that I feel so stupid for. Was told it was best to self report to TNPAP. Which I did and have seen the costs and am very discouraged. I will be reported to BON and I don’t know if I can apply and work until something comes Of it ? Your post stuck out to me because you said you continued to work. Any advice ?

Hello there,
So did you land up with a job? I am pretty much new in my career and now this reprimand. I did not even know this will stick with my license forever. I am very frustrated. Can I never find a job in a long term care as well.? please advise. I am clueless. What kind of facilities hire nurses with reprimand? I like to work in nursing homes.
