Repeats when Applying for NOVA Nursing program

Published

Hi girls/guys. This is for those that have applied and gotten accepted into the NOVA Nursing programs (fort myers & ft lauderdale.)

Did any of you have any repeats in the sciences? I saw on the website that they absolutely accept no repeats in ANY courses. Yet, i've READ about a few on here that HAVE repeats in the sciences. What is the deal? If you have please tell me which courses. thnxs! And any advice on what i can do.. I have an Instructor withdrawal on my Anatomy I first term in college 4 years ago. And it's bitting me in the ***! HELP :(

Mayteb87, thank you for the heads up... i know that Anatomy is going to be tough... are they any suggestions you may want to share with me on how to do well in that class??? Can i tape record, i know supposedly she does power point slides and stuff... i just got my syllabus and i get my book in tomorrow... I am super anxious about that class... I really want to do well so any information and tips would be helpful... and greatly appreciated, i have no idea what to expect at all... do you bring your laptop lol... i dont even know what to do or how to do it... lol... im just going through the motions... Orientation for me is Monday... AAHHHHH so excited but i have so many questions for them... they still have me as an out of state student, etc. AYYYY NOVA NOVA its always something with them.... I just want to do well in my classes and I am also accepted into the baptist Scholars so doing well is a major thing its not even an option lol... thank you for any suggestions you may have... goodluck in your courses as well.... NURSE SHARKS!!!!

jerziana29 it is because of you that a can sleep tonight!!! i have worked soo hard on maintaining a good gpa and my prerequisites for nova will be done before december. when i asked the admissions lady about the baptist program she said they were closed for january 2011! the whole purpose of me working sooo hard on my gpa was for the baptist scholarship! i saw in one of your previous posts that the baptist program will only be offered for fall semesters is this information still accurate??!?!?!?!?!??! where did you get this information from?!?!?!?!?!? i have been stressing over this for quite some time now :uhoh3:!!

thank you! :o

CuriousCat, i feel your pain on that... i worked very hard during my pre-reqs as well just for scholars and for nova... But yes they will not be offering the scholars program for January and i think now they are not going to be offering it for the fall term either.... there are too many nurses and Baptist has nowhere to place them after graduation, thats where the problem lays, so they are cutting programs out. For instance they only chose 40 ppl out of 750 that applied for the scholars program for my fall class... imagine that. I work for Baptist however, i didnt hear about them that having it for the fall term, but the info may be true, i would call the Baptist Scholars dept and ask them yourself, because Nova can only tell you what Baptist tell them.... so they know as much as they tell them on that end. It sucks but so many nurses out there and so little money to go around and job positions with the economy just makes it even worse. Our class just got lucky, i wouldve been so upset so i feel you, like i said call them directly and they will advise you, they may be pending fall 2011 at this time. But i know for a fact that January 2011 they are not being offered, however, you can get another option which is the Memorial Hospital which you can apply entering your second semester at Nova.... maybe that will help....i would turn to that option if i were you right now and look it up online as well... I feel bad for all of those that wanted the scholars.... its sad to see it go for now, but i would call them. Hang in there and if you need anymore info i would be more than happy to help you, just keep that gpa up and going.. and calculate your science gpa because Nova looks at that first and your essay needs to be on top as well.. make it good and make it standout. goodluck to all and hope you can join us in being a Nurse Shark soon!

Also Curious Cat, the deadline for Nova's January class is Oct. 1 if you are still taking classes they will defer you to the fall term... it happened to one of my friends, it just dawned on me now that i didnt post this on my other message to you. If you pass the OCt. 1 deadline you are pretty much slimming your chances big time. Like i said it happened already to one of friends she had to reapply for the Fall term this year... and got accepted. So i am not sure what term you are applying for. Just keep your grades up and send in your grades as soon as you can since they wont make a decision when you are pending stuff. Again call directly the scholars program and see how it goes.... hope it comes through for you. Best of luck!

Jerziana, thank you for the reply and im sure you can understand the predicament that im in. can you tell me more about the Memorial Hospital scholarship i haven't heard about that one. well, my science gpa is great, i basically have straight A's :o. I think after all the stress i've put my self through to maintain straight A's, i should be able to get some scholarship . So your starting Nova on Monday!!! that is sooo EXCITING! I hope it turns out to be everything that you expect it to be!!

CuriousCat, yes i have been procrastinating a little bit like on what to wear that i have been scrambling all weekend and then i couldnt find my immunization papers, ugh such a mess now i am in bed relaxing for the big day tomorrow.. I CANT WAIT.. i know its going to be chaos but just the though that Im IN and starting is overwhelming all on its own., its just exciting and to think that my next job will be as an RN, god willingly, is like all scary.... I love it though...

But i see where you are coming from with the money and busting your butt for all the help you can get. I am not too sure how the Memorial Hospital goes you can go to the hospitals website and see or call the scholars dept there as well and get all the info you can.. this is your future so be on it like a fly. You will be ok but i understand you concerns, just keep trying and you will get there, nothing is ever impossible!! :)

CONGRATS! TODAY IS THE BIG DAY! Hope it goes great and smooth haha! Let us know what to expect! GOOD LUCK! Btw, curiouscat: did you get in for spring 2011?

Today was the big day!!! and it was very loooooong but exciting and eventful all at the same time!! They had us filled with information and just getting out things done like the decals and the shark id which by the way takes forever..everyone was very nice and helpful and congratulated us everywhere we went.. it was a great experience and i hope that all of you have the same chance... its great and I LOVE BEING A NURSE SHARK :anpom:

How exciting Jerizana!!!!! Can you get the sharkID before orientation? Because I already received my decal=]

Boo the decal you can do it at anytime... the issue was the shark ID card but i think u have to wait til orientation for that... but the sooner you get things done the better!!!! so go for it... I had my anatomy class today and it was great, awesome professor so you are not going to have a problem with a bad anatomy professor u know, so far so good, she is great!!!

Sounds great it would be a nightmare taking it with a horrible professor. How many classes are you taking for the first semester?

Hey everyone! Let me know how the first 2 days have been! Details pleaseee : )
