Relocation assistance

Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center is a busy acute care hospital in the isolated border town of Eagle Pass, TX, about three hours from San Antonio.

Due to perpetual problems with attracting and retaining staff, management was offering a $4,500 relocation allowance to attract nurses from anywhere in the US.

I only know about nursing jobs. The bonuses only apply to exp nurses.

Relocation may be offered to new grads. You can always write relocation expenses off when it comes tax time.

A lot of the tenet facilities offer sign bonuses 5-15k and I think relocation assistance might be separate from the bonus.

Florida Hospital relocation 10k and sign on bonuses 10k.

Inova in Virginia 20k sign on bonus and up to 20k in relocation. It is a 3 year commitment. I found that on indeed a few weeks ago. I suggest checking that website out.

What I have seen here in WA (as a nurse) is certain hospitals offering a $5000 sign on bonus and up to $5000 relocation assistance for experienced RNs willing to make a three year commitment. That said, the few hospitals still doing this are either facing significant financial, cultural, and outcome challenges OR are only offering these incentives for RN positions in highly specialized departments that lack a deep applicant pool: OR, Labor/delivery, cath lab, etc (extensive experience required for all)

Back in my corporate days, relocation assistance was common; signing bonuses not so much. Usually relocation assistance would include a stipend of around $3000, free temporary/hotel accommodations until settled, and reimbursement for direct moving costs such as U-Haul rental and fuel. There was a cap for these direct expenses, usually $500 - $1000.

^ Swedish hospital in WA offers relocation.

And from what I understand, Swedish is a positive environment and offers a high level of quality care. Thanks for adding that. I didn't realize they were still offering that incentive!

Thank you for the replies, they give me perspective on my compensation package.

$10,000 sign on bonus

$2,500 relocation less than 50 miles

$5,000 relocation greater than 100 miles

Must have one year experience

Also offers a paid leave accrual that matches the years of experience as an RN to what a "senior" employee gets

Inova Health System in Northern Virginia is currently offering up to $20,000 in reimbursable relocation expenses for Critical Care RNs with at least two years of experience. There are certain eligibility standards that must be met - but this also comes along with a $20,000 sign on bonus. You can message [email protected] for more information.

Having worked in both the corporate and healthcare environments, relocation assistance for employees in short supply is not unusual. Most places do require that you work at least a year there, and if you leave before that time, you must pay back the relocation assistance. I have known people who set an Outlook calendar reminder for 366 days after their first day of work, and then submit their resignation so their relocation is paid for and they can then go to another job in that area.
