relocating to Ft. Worth

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm getting ready to make an offer on a house in Ft. Worth (west of the 377 and east of I35 W and north of 820). Any ideas on good hospitals and commute times? We are moving from Arizona. ANY help would be useful! Is it an okay area?

Thank you!

There's a start for you. It just depends on how far you want to drive. You'll be in a nice location, close to I-35W, so it will be easy to get anywhere in Tarrant County.

Good luck with everything!

Welcome to Texas... I live just south of Ft Worth but Work in SW Ft Worth. Ok you are in N Ft Worth. There is many major hospitals in the Ft Worth area. Harris , All Saints, Plaza and JPS. You can look all these up online and get more information . I dont know much about the area as far as crime and schools ,I just know it's crowded. I was in that area this morning and could have carried on a conversation with the car next to me we were there in traffic so long. But Im used to the country life so more than one car is too much for me... Good luck to you . Let me know if I can answer anymore questions about the area...

Thanks for the replies! We were making an offer on the property and found out the seller had just accepted another offer. My husband is bummed! It had a 3-car garage (which he REALLY wants) and about 2300 sq. ft for $158,000. If anyone has any suggestions on other areas, they would be greatly appreciated. I drove out there last week and it was very frustrating looking at houses because of the traffic. Ended up only seeing 5 or 6. I fell in love with Weatherford. Hubby will work out of Dallas Love (will only drive in 1-2 times a week) and I don't know if that is just too far. Also, I need to start looking for a job :crying2: It sure is more fun to find a house :chuckle

Hi - I moved here from Tucson 18 months ago and I can really relate. I love in Saginaw which is north of downtown. We are in the Creekwood subdivision which is new, in an excellent school district, and has beautiful houses close to that price range with 60 and 70 foot lots and 3 car garages.

The commute to downtown can take from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the time of day, and there are lot's of alternates when problems occur. There are 3 builders so lot's of options in this development. PM me if you want more info as I don't like posting this much personal stuff here.

I hope you are ready for culture shock:rotfl: ! Once you get through it though it is a good place to live.

Thanks for the replies! Any opinions on living in N. Richland Hills or Bedford? Are you happy at the hospitals? Are staffing ratios okay?

Thank you!

I've decided to fly out there tonight. I've got houses to see in Saginaw, North Richland Hills and Haltom City. Any opinions?

Thank you!

Enjoy your time out here & let us know! We'll set up the welcome wagon! :balloons:

Not a nurse yet, but I do live in almost the exact area you described. I live in Ft. Worth, right where 820 and I-35W intersect. It's a pretty nice area, close to lots of shopping and the downtown Ft. Worth area. North Hills Hospital is off of 820 in N. Richland Hills. It's a smaller hospital, and to tell the truth, I had a somewhat horrifying experience in the ER as a patient (Nurses openly discussing how they wished that they could just hand out narcotics to drug seekers during the assessment of my injury). Harris has 2 hospitals that are close to that area: the large one in downtown Ft. Worth and HEB in Bedford. Both have fairly good reps in town, again, from a patient perspective. Baylor has a regional facility in Grapevine, as well.

As for your DH, Love Field is QUITE a hike from Ft. Worth (about 45 minutes with minimal traffic...I would hate to think how long it would take during rush hours).

Did you find a house?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I made an offer on a house in Keller, TX-it is beautiful and so much less expensive than AZ! Anyway, any opinions on local hospitals? I'm looking at HEB, North Hills, and Harris Methodist Ft. Worth. Does anyone know anything about staffing ratios on med/surg/tele? Do employees seem to be happy? I'm not sure that I'm looking for full-time, but haven't quite decided. Any info on any hospitals that are a decent commute would be helpful! It seems like such a beautiful area!

Thank you!

I worked at Harris sometime back and LOVED it - I know others who currently work there and say the same. The benefits at Harris are awesome.
