It's going to be very challenging to find an acute care job in DFW without a BSN. I would advise you to obtain that certification first to improve your chances. Make sure you have a job lined up prior to making the move. When it comes to deciding where to live, it's best to engage the services of a Realtor who is familiar with the area. Here is a great site where you can find information on all just about any information you need - Relocating to Dallas | Relocation Resources for Moving to Houston.
Wow this is strange, my brother is in the coast guard stationed in Williamsburg Virginia , I live in Dallas and in nursing school and I work at Baylor, currently Baylor only hires BSN's not because one or the other is better it's an accreditation thing the more BSN's employed the better ur chances if passing their requirements , but not impossible to get hired, parkland and some of the other hospitals in the area do hire ADN routinely, Presbyterian, doctors hospital, all the Methodist hospitals in Dallas , parkland just gave a cost of living raise saw it in the news so pay went up for all employees there , most if the rest if the hospitals usually follow suit to be competitive. Lots if great places to live here, you can go to the city of Dallas website and look up different areas and it will give average rent and info in schools, crime, and shopping in the area. Best if luck and come on down to Texas we'd love to have you.

Hello everyone! I am a new(ish) RN in Williamsburg, VA and a single mom looking to relocate within the next year or two to Dallas, TX. I've got 2 years of experience in the PCU and I do not have my BSN. I'm working on my PCCN certification. I have read up on Parkland and Baylor. They both sound like great places to work. I just have some questions that I'd like to ask you Texas nurses
1. What's a realistic pay rate that I can expect?
2. Where is a good central location that is safe and has good schools with good special needs programs?
3. How much can I expect to pay in rent?
4. What is the nurse/patient ratio for PCU's around Dallas?
All other insight is appreciated! Thank you in advance!
