U.S.A. Arizona

Specializes in no specialty! (have to graduate first!).

I lived in the Phoenix are for almost 7 years before moving back home to attend nursing school. I would like to relocate back to Arizona, probably the Scottsdale area. I am trying to plan my how my monthly finances will be. Can anyone share with me what the average starting pay is for a new grad?

Thank you!

Maricopa Medical Center starts new grads at $24.97/hour.

Chandler healthcare said it starts new grads out at 25.00/hour and if you have six years working as an LPN they are willing to pay you for your knowledge. They have a 20% shift differential for nights and a 10% differential if you work weekends. I still think is pretty low considering you can get a job making 25-27.00 an hour on staff as a LPN at Plaza healthcare? I thought RN's made the big bucks!:banghead:

I am a new grad RN, BSN that just started with Banner Health one month ago. I started at $26.50/hr. I did not receive any incentive for having a BSN. They have a 20% night shift differential and they pay double pay for any overtime!! I also received $5000.00 relocation bonus and only had to sign with Banner Health for one year. They will also give a referral bonus so let me know if you would like to apply there!! :chuckle

HELLO SOON2BAZ,

I am looking for a job in Phoenix area...I live in Chicago but I need to move to AZ (I got AZ license). Currently I am taking refresher course on line and in 2-4 weeks I would need to find my preceptor. Any suggestions? I haven't practice Nursing more than 5 years that is why Board sent me to take this course.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Tele, ER, Military.

The VA Medical Center is Phoenix starts off New Grads with their BSN at $57K..so far the highest paying hospital that I have seen in the valley for new grads.

Specializes in Telemetry.

Does anyone know what Scottsdale HC and Mayo pay for new grads? I have been trying to reach them with no luck with anyone picking up or calling back. I know John C. Lincoln starts at 25.97 plus 5/hr nights. 1.56 per fri-sunday differential. 1000 sign on bonus and 5.250/yr loan reimbursement. Banner didn't offer any reimbursement at all.

How has your experience been, thus far? How long is their orientation? Do they offer any tuition reimbursement? If so, how much? Any sign on bonus?

My experience so far has been AWESOME!! I love where I work and the people I work with. New grad orientation was approx 35 clinical days, but it was very individualized. My preceptor, nurse manager, nurse educator and I met after every six shifts to evaluate my orientation process and talk through any issues or concerns. They all made sure I was comfortable in my position before they took me off of orientation.

I'm not for sure if Banner offers tuition reimbursement or not. I know that they will reimburse if you are going to school while working but I'm not for sure about paying back school loans.

I received a $5000.00 "relocation bonus". Basically a sign on bonus. I had to agree to one year with Banner Health. There is another nurse that I work with that agreed to two years and got $8000.

Hope that information helps! I REALLY love my job with Banner Health!

I too am looking to relocated, I lived in AZ 20 yrs ago and loved it. I'm in NJ now and property taxes and cost of living is killing me. Last kid graduates from High School next year and I'm getting out of NJ. I have a few years med/surg experience(Oncology).

Wondersing what property taxes, home prices and cost of living is in AZ these days. Pay scales are pretty close to NJ but is it really cheaper to live in AZ anymore?

Specializes in ER, Outpatient,.

Getting into Mayo as a new grad may be a little difficult. :(
