asu or mcc ?
For the class that started Fall 2006, the cut-off score was 5.94??? or something around there. There are 7 points total... 1pt for Net Math, 1pt for NetReading, 1pt for essay, and 4pts for your GPA. So basically a student applying for Fall of last year who had a 3.3GPA, 99% (.99) in math, 88% (.88) in the reading, and a 77% (.77) in the essay got in. His/her total score would have been 5.94 out of 7 points...just enough to get in. It does not matter at all where you take your pre-reqs. I took all mine at the local community colleges. I liked the small classroom atmosphere better there. Hope this helps.

ADN vs. BSN (kinda long, sorry!)
It's always worth a try to apply to ASU. The cut off score for ASU FALL 2006 was a 5.969. Some people had 3.2 GPA's and were admitted. They just received great scores on their NET exams and essay. For example, in one scenario, someone had a 3.2 GPA, .98 on the math, .92 on the reading comprehension, and .95 on the essay. She made a total of 6.05 and was really excited!:biggringi

Maric College in San Diego
If you plan on getting your BSN make sure you check if Maric's credits are transferrable to that school. My sister graduated from Maric's LVN program and she had to retake a lot of classes over because the RN programs that she is applying to won't accept Maric classes. Otherwise, she loved the school.

UCLA New Grad Program
Are you talking about the Master's Entry Clinical Nurse Program that starts FALL 2006?:spam:

I am in hell
I heard that ASU also looks at your penmanship of the essay portion. Do you think that it can affect a person's score? Someone told me that the essay question involved describing what nursing meant to you and how your past experiences will help you succeed in nursing. Does it change every term?

Tips on ASU BSN admission?
ASU works as a point system...7pts total. 4 points for your GPA, 1 point for Math part of NET, 1pt for English part of NET, and 1pt for the essay. They only look at 10pre-req grades to make up your GPA since you already have a BS in bio (3 of the pre-reqs are waived). Last year, the lowest point total they accepted was about a 5.84 if I remember correctly. I am also finishing up my pre-reqs for Fall 2006. I wanted to apply to their Banner program for this coming January, but I fell into a complication with my pre-reqs. Anyway, for example, if you have a 3.7GPA, get a 90% in math, and an 80% in English, then you already have a 5.4 point total (and would still have the essay points to add). I would think that if you at least get 6.1, you would for sure get in. Hope this helps. QUOTE=Selaz]Hi All, Just a little background....I am working on my last few requesisites before applying to ASU. I already have a B.S. in Biology, so I don't have many prerequisites to complete. Been thinking about going back to nursing school for for a while, but the time in my life hasn't been right up until now. I am currently a marketing manager (I know, NOTHING like nursing). I've noticed how competetive it has become to get into nursing school....can anyone tell me what kind of GPA is required for ASU's program? I have a 3.7 --is this acceptable? I have read that some people with 3.8's did not get into U of A. Can anyone comment? Thanks!

Banner health Nurse fellows program??
Mattsmom64, I took HCR220 online at glendale community college SummerII and absolutely loved it. There were four quizzes, two papers, a journal, and discussion questions all done through the internet. However since you are probably used to posting here in allnurses.com, it should be fun for you. I had Ms. Robinson as a teacher. She was great! I definitely recommend it. :)

Banner health Nurse fellows program??
The thing is is that since it is through ASU, you have to meet all of ASU's requirements (take their required pre-reqs, the NET test, and their essay...) and hopefully get at least 5.8 pts out of 7pts total (your GPA...4.0 being the highest...1pt for the math NET, 1pt for the english NET, and 1 pt for the essay). Unfortunately, the deadline for this SPRING 2006 has passed, but I'm sure if you look into it, Banner might offer something for FALL 2006 (deadline is December 2005). A couple of my classmates in my CNA class wish that they pursued ASU's program instead of the community college program since it takes about the same amount of time to get your BSN (at least that is what they said). Anyway, once again, I do enjoy how Banner's ASU program is suitable for parents and how they pay for everything. The estimated ASU professional program cost (including tuition, books, fees, etc.) is around 11,000 for in state. If I'm not mistaken, I think you also have to be an Arizona resident since the out-of-state tuition is around 30,000. If you would like to figure out more about the program, you can contact Banner Center for Health Careers at 602-747-8020. I also have a frequently asked question sheet if you have any more questions. Otherwise there are information sessions free for anyone to attend on the following dates: August 19th (TOMORROW!!!) at 1:00pm-3:00pm August 24th 3:30pm-5:00pm August 29th 1:00pm-2:30pm & 3:00-4:00 The location will be held at the ASU East Campus (Polytechnic campus) in BUILDING CLRB, ROOM 120. I'm planning to attend tomorrow to ask more questions.

Banner health Nurse fellows program??
oh yeah, they pay for books, fees, tuition, etc...but then you have a contract with them for three years... I find the schedule very flexible, especially for parents (night classes, weekend clinicals).

Banner health Nurse fellows program??
Did anyone hear about ASU's new Banner option for Spring 2006. Banner decided at the last minute to offer a BSN program at ASU East, classes held at night, clinicals on the weekends...16month accelerated program.

ASU BSN program, anyone?
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that for the Spring 2006 program, they have increased the enrollment class to 160 as opposed to the 130 last year. I do agree that the number of students should be increased!

ASU BSN program, anyone?
FutureRNinAZ, Well, basically what you need to do is have 13 prerequisite courses submitted by the deadline. For example, if you want to apply to Spring 2006 (starting January 2006), you need to have all 13 pre-reqs grades submitted by August 15, 2005. They give you a list of the pre-reqs that you need: Bio201, Bio202, ENG101, ENG102, etc. etc. etc. There are about 18 on the list that you can choose 13 from (I'm not sure if there are some that you definitely have to take, however...) You must also realize that you have to take the NET TEST and a written exam. This is how it works... ASU has NO WAITLIST but is based on a scoring rubric, 7 pts being the maximum. There is 4pts for grades (having a 4.0...if you have a 3.3, then you get 3.3 pts, etc.), 1pt for the essay, 1pt for the math part of the NET, and 1pt for the English part of the NET. Last year, 300 people applied for 130spots. If you got anything below 5.8pts you automatically "got dropped" from the application process and were not admitted. THUS, you can do the math to see what GPA you need and scores, etc. They don't tell you much about the essay part during the orientation. I think that for SPring '06 they are expecting a greater pool of applicants... Good luck! P.S. If you already have a bachelor's, you only need 10 pre-reqs because they waive some of your classes.
