Religion and nursing school

Published

This is a silly question, but one concern I have about nursing school is not having time for God. Recently I just re-discovered my faith in God and I'm happy I did. Going to church helps so much in getting me through the week, So my question is, will I be able to have that kind of time with all the work that nursing school demands?

Isn't church like an hour a week? You have time for anything you make time for. I don't get these people who say there's "no time" to do anything when you're in nursing school. I had plenty of time to be a college student.

Honestly, this is not a silly question at all. I try to pray, read my bible, and go to church as often as I can as well. I was wondering how I was going to still be able to do this while in nursing school. I told my husband, you and the kids may have to go to church without me. He said school is no reason to miss church. He always motivates me into the right direction. When he said that i agreed that he was right. You make time for what you want to make time for, so i say just make all the time you can. Everyone else has given some good advice as well. Prayers up for your journey.

You make time. When you make time, you will find that the stress of nursing school will be easier to overcome.

I too have had the same questions. I just set my alarm clock earlier in the morning so I can have some Bible time ahead of time. If it does not work out, then I just do it later in the day. Some days I have missed my Bible time, but then, like the other posters mentioned, I will pray or sing here and there during the day. I also have Bible time every night with my family, so I get Bible and prayer time at least once a day.

Also, and its just my personal thing, I do not work on Sundays. That is my day of rest, and even though I might have homework piled up, I still need a day to focus on worshiping the LORD and being with my family. I know exactly what you are going through; I struggle all the time! Like Here.I.Stand said, just prioritize and if you can make time for Him, I am sure God will bless your studies. :)

Wow, I am so glad I found this thread. OP, I felt the exact same way how you felt while attending LVN school. I felt I was giving God very little of my time and I felt bad. Before nursing school I was going to bible study and stopped soon as school started. However, after 6 months in the program, I encouraged myself to make some time for God. He was the reason why I got accepted into the program. I am now going to begin a RN program and YES , God prayer, bible study will be in forefront this time. Thank you OP for sharing this and expressing your inner thoughts with us. It lets us know we are not alone in this. God has a plan for all of us. :)
