Rejection Club:Come On In!

Published

:welcome:hi all thought it would be a great idea for all of us who have received that dreaded rejection letter to have a place where we could share our stories and offer encouragement to others and say what you are up to now and what your future plans are.my school does not send out rejection letters but since i haven't received an acceptance one that means i'm out.not sure where i'll go from here but will definitely be applying next year.

I go to school in south-eastern Michigan and rec'd the dreaded waiting list letter. I guess that I'm lucky enough to be #1 on the waiting list. But I was heart - broken. So I hope that a nursing student will find that nursing really isn't her calling, so that I can take her spot. Is that bad for me to think that? I know in my heart that Nursing is where I need to be, and should I not get in this year, I will be appling again next year.

I have such a passion for helping people and don't get me wrong I have a great job right now, but I do not find my job fulfilling, I am not happy.

Here's to hoping that I get to take someone's spot.

Specializes in Emergency & Trauma/Adult ICU.

Good luck to all of you.

Mods: move this to Pre-Nursing Forum??

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I applied to four schools this year, 1 rejection letter, 1 was a lottery (didnt win), 1 I never heard back from, and 1 I missed the cut off by 2.4 points for their scoring system. Had I been working at one of two hospitals I would have been given another 3 points and I would have been in. So next year I am casting a wider net applying to at least 8 schools, and I keep applying to work at the hospital, but they require 1 year of CNA experience which I will have in October.

Specializes in Corrections, neurology, dialysis.

I had received a rejection letter - three years in a row.

The last one said I was on the alternate list in case a space opens up. Out of curiosity I called to find out where I was on the list, thinking I might be 9 or 10 on the list. I was 69th on the list!

I just kept trying. I retook the entrance HESI and got a better score. I retook English and anatomy and changed my B's to A's.

The next year I got in.

Most people said (and still say) I was crazy to spend four years trying to get into nursing school. Perhaps. But to me what would be crazy is being where I am today wishing I had kept trying and not giving up. In a few weeks I start third semester and will graduate in 9 months. I guess it depends on the person, but for me it was worth trying again.

Don't despair. Try again, try another school. Just keep trying. ;)

Hi all just wanted to let you know that i have gotten a job at a nursing home. The DON at the hospital where i volunteered got it for me.The lady in charge said i was highly recommended by the DON.Called him and said thanks. The pay isn't that great but i love what i do.Will definately be applying to nursing school again next year.Still mad though cause a girl i know got in and she has no qualifications and thats what i'm most pissed off about.Well still hoping someone declines their spot.Good luck to you all.

Specializes in Specializes in L/D, newborn, GYN, LTC, Dialysis.

The first year I applied I was rejected too. I spent the next year finishing off my pre-req's and getting the highest grades I could. Was accepted the following year and have been an RN 10 years now.

I guess all I can say is, DO NOT GIVE UP!

Wishing you the best.
