Register with Pearson Vue or BON first?

Published

Do I apply for license first through my BON(Pennsylvania) or do I register with Pearson Vue first?

I did both on the same day. BON first then went straight to the Pearson VUE website and registered there. I really don't think it matters but I went according to what the Candidate Bulletin stated the steps were.

a lot will depend if trained in the US or outside the US.

It doesn't matter. You can register with Pearson VUE and pay the fee for the NCLEX at any time. But keep in mind that you can't schedule your exam until you apply to the BON and are given your ATT. It takes about 24 hours for your Pearson VUE registration to be processed, so there is no real benefit to applying early. But if you've got the $200 for the NCLEX and want to get the registration out of the way, you can do so at any time.

I'm in GA and we had to register with Pearson Vue first. Had to be at least 48 hrs before applying for license. Check your state BON for the instructions for your particular state.

Specializes in Oncology.

I applied for licensure through BON, then signed up with Pearson Vue. I paid for my NCLEX exam before I received my ATT. When I got my ATT, I could go on Pearson Vue and schedule the exam date.
