Hello all,
I am a BSN graduate from the Philippines, and an RN there and in New York.
I'm sure you guys know that international BSN graduates has not been getting through the California BRN since year 2010, because of the issue that foreign graduates (esp. from the Philippines) lack units during our college / Nursing years. This said, I know zero of my colleagues who applied to take the NCLEX got their ATT, since o'10.
I recently applied to have my license in New York endorsed to California, and noted that one requirement they had is that I must provide my college transcripts from where I graduated (again, in the Philippines).
I am currently in CA, but I am thinking to just move to New York, if I am only waiting for my application to get rejected because I lack units, or cases/caseloads.
I'm looking for someone with the same case I am in, or who was in the same case.. Please help me, should I just go to New York? :(
Hi chelle719: we're on the same boat... what did the board of nursing do when they knew you no longer have copies of your clinical cases? I had our dean make a certification stating herself to attest that i have completed those cases since they were pre requisites to taking the board exam... still waiting for feedback from brn if that lette worked... im willing to retake the ms as a consequence of not having a copy of clinical cases... and other deficiency subjects though...

Hi pls let me know how the letter from the dean went. Thank u.
Hi, I have the same problem and I am here in California too. Well, first, apply and complete all CA BON requirements and wait until you get the letter stating the subjects you needed to retake. ( Mine was OB and MS nursing. BTW, I applied to both RN and LVN license. Luckily, getting LVN license was no problem and I am an working as an LVN right now.) Schools that you will apply to will require that letter. However, there are few schools that will accept students like us. By few, I mean 3 ( that's what I found out so far). Most of them, they all want us back to zero. Anyway, the school I am going to right now is Glendale Community College. I had to take English 101 first last Spring, that is the school's requirement and I am waiting for next year ( March) to submit my application for their foreign nursing grad program. They only accept application every March, once a year and according to what they told me, it all depends on the number of students. Second school, you can check this link, Nursing: Foreign Nurse Graduates | Registered Nursing (RN) Program - Ohlone College, Fremont and Newark, California . I cannot say anything about them because they never got back to me. Third and last school is in Evergreen Valley College in San Jose. A friend of mine with issues just like us took his required subjects over there, finished them last year and is an RN now. That is all I can tell you for now. If you find anything, please let me know as well.
i did submit me clinical cases. they still wanted me to retake OB and MS nursing. They said it was a concurrency issue between the theory and clinical cases. According to them, our theory subjects in class should have been our clinical exposure as well.
Yes, both clinical and theory have to be done in same semester, not 1 week or weeks before or after and not 1-2 years before or after.
It's mostly due to the baby delivery cases and since the US does not use those as a requirement, this is the killer portion of the PH curriculum.
That's why the CHED, PRC and PNA tried to reduce from the 5-5-5 to 3-3-3 but it still doesn't work at all.
There's no way the three PH agencies will ever abolish the delivery cases because nowhere else are the hospitals and clinics going to find free medical help and can use nursing students as the cheapest and best way to get unpaid "employees".
Anybody here who already has a license in other state and tried to endorse to Cali? I know for sure I'll be facing the concurrency issue. But I wanna know if there's also that 3-year window for me to complete the subjects that are in question? Or, will I just be denied right there and then without chances in endorsing?
Please give me some advise.
