I'm glad retrogression is set at this moment in time. This country doesn't have to open it's borders to everyone and there should be a limit on visas to enter and work. There are lots of people trying to cut in line by coming over on a tourist visa and secretly taking the NCLEX and trying to find someone to sponsor them. Well it wont happen since the economy is bad. The jobs should go to the citizens of the US first before any foreigner. I'm all for embracing everyone, but when it comes to jobs it should go to the US citizens and legal residents first.

It seems like you don't understand the concept of retrogression. Visas are available for those who filed their papers in 2004-2005. So foreign nurses are moving to this country every single day. If retrogression will not be resolved within the next 3-4 years, I'm sure we will see a lot of Filipino nurses coming to States on TN and E-3 visas (yes, they will get Canadian/Australian citizenship by that time). Will that be considered breaking a line? Or if someone comes on a tourist visa and are eligible to apply for AOS, they can do that because it is allowed by the law. Some people prefer to sit a wait forever, some prefer to take a risk to move faster. It's just a matter of preference. So the line only exists in your imagination. As long as it's legal it's not up to you to decide what's right and what's wrong. You will be surprised, but in many parts the country they are still hiring new grads. But considering the pay rate in the South/Midwest, I would rather go to Canada. Better money, fewer rednecks, and less hassle with immigration.

you nailed it!

Thanks Kosmonavt. I'm aware of that too.

You have got your facts wrong

Retrogression is a backlog due to a difference in the number of visa applicants and available visa numbers for each year and also because of the number of visas wasted each year by the USCIS. DOL still has RN classified as a shortage occupation and petitions still will be approved under ths.

US has fixed limit on visas to enter and work and that's what's causing the retrogression in the first place.

It is not possible for anyone right now to come to US as tourists and stay back to work as nurses, atleast legally.

Jobs should go to US citizens always, even when there's no recession or retrogression, only the job vacancies for which there are a shortage of Americans workers are available to foreign workers.

Retrogression affects only legal permanent immig. applicants who know very well that US has limited visas and no open border.

You do not have the right to come here to work even if you think you do. Were things better I would be happy to have you.

am not here to pick a fight or an argument but i find this comment patronizing.not unless you work for the immigration dept.,you have no authority to say these things....

peace.

Yes, I do have the authority to say these things. We elect our officials and if you don't think they listen to their constituency you don't understand how this country works.

But hey, keep on trying to keep things in perspective for those of us incapable of understanding the situation without your input.

Actually I do understand the concept of retrogression and I'm well aware that there are people are still coming over. But I'd like to thank you for posting further on the subject because you've probably cleared up stuff for others who read this forum. Like you, I'd rather go to Canada than the south or midwest for the same reason. But unfortunately I also love my Directv and Canada doesn't have all the channels that we have here.

Whatever is said and written here by both sides, nothing can stop nurses from coming over here, try coming over here, think of coming over here and dream of coming over here UNLESS USofA makes it illegal for foreign nurses to work here.Nuff said and Peace.

I'm well aware of what's going on at the moment and I've been well aware regarding the limit on visas. I guess I should clarify what I meant because most people are not going to the areas where nobody wants to live. Most want to come to the areas where there isn't a shortage like California for example. People are coming over as tourists and are staying (illegally) with family. We all know they will attempt to try to find employment and are slowly finding out that it's not possible legally.

... love my Directv and Canada doesn't have all the channels that we have here.

Is that the way you made your decision in life ?

FYI , nowadays almost all blockbusters and TV channels are available online with affordable price. U wanna Jay Leno or Jon Stewart latest shows , get it from online.

---- i sure will. :specs::specs::specs:

I will use SlingBox for that.

Please stick to the topic that is being discussed.

Not sure what a slingbox as you call it has anything to do with anything here.

Slingbox is a device you hook up to the cable or satellite to watch TV on your computer. For example if my kids want to watch a game that is not broadcasted in their area they can watch the show on their computer.

I think this comment is referencing the Direct TV comment.
