Recently passed boards....what do i bring to interviews?

Ok so I took the nclex-pn on March 28 and the PVT is saying that I passed..... Now the job search begins.... What should I look for when applying to a job, how should I dress, what should I bring? I am really eager to get my career started........advice please?

You should dress professionally for all job interviews and should bring your drivers license or state issued ID, nursing license number, social security number, and a copy of your resume.

I pounded the pavement, dressed for an interview and went to local facilities to see if they were currently hiring any nurses. I think I went to around 6 in one day, had on the spot interviews at four and had two on the spot offer one call back with an offer and one of the non on the spot interviews called me back for an interview. It's all in how you present yourself. Have a family member or friend who is a manager go with you to pick out a nice professional interview outfit (either out of your closet or new) and go over your résumé. P.s. even if a job posting says experience required apply anyway, technically my first nursing job required 2 years experience and I was brand new with only clinicals under my belt and got it.

I would bring a couple of copies of your resume, just in case.

And always dress to impress! You can never go wrong with a suit. Wear shoes that are comfortable because you may be doing a lot of walking which may include taking a tour of the unit you are applying for. Keep jewelry to a minimum, if you wear makeup keep it natural, don't wear fake nails (keep 'em natural!) and skip the perfume.

congratulations!! as part of the interview team for new LPN's over the past year i'll let you know what we look for... dress professional, go for dress slacks and a blouse or a nice skirt. dont have fake nails because most places dont allow them now and will even mention it in the interview. wear flats or low heels so you can walk around comfortably! i would definitely bring a couple extra copies of your resume with you, and don't forget a cover letter for your resume!! i've heard of companies throwing away resumes that didn't have a cover letter without even looking at them (although we never did that). Also remember, many places out there only accept online applications right now so this is what i did when looking for a job... i googled all the places in my area (for example "long term care facilities in ...." or "skilled nursing facilities in ..."), once i found a bunch then i went to each website and checked to see if i could put in an application online. i put in as many as i could and i had a job within a week (with other offers as well!). good luck on your job hunt!!
