Reality of Nursing skool

Published

So the reality of nursing school has set in. There is sooo much todo in so little time not to mention constantly being pounded with exams almost every other week. My school has 5hour lecure twice a week + 6 hour clinicals twice a week, not to add required lab time, study time and clinical paper work. I have never had test anxiety in any of pre reqs but everytime i have a nursing exam im scared to death. thus far i have avergaed 80's but there so different from any exams before. The Nclex review books i have, test questions seem to be really hard. Overall this a little more than I expected and im only in Fudamentals (sigh overwhelmed)

Understandable. Hang in there and work on your time management. Try to get yourself into a routine. The first year is usually the hardest, but as you learn more you will be able to start piecing things together.

On a side note, you should go back and edit your post to fix your grammar mistakes because I foresee a lot of responses ripping on you for it. Just my opinion.

You can do this! :) I'm starting in the fall so I don't know what it is like but I think about the other obstacles I have overcome in my life and know I will make it. You will too. Think of the most difficult thing you have ever done or imagine something that could be worse. Take a deep breath. Take care of yourself physically, it will help! Eat right, etc. Take time for you as well. Are you working as well as nursing school? I'm probably not going to work when I start school this fall.

WELCOME TO NURSING SKOOOOLLLLL :(

you'll get better at it all. time mangement and lack of a life , sleep and breathing is all you need! :)

Good luck!

I know that you have heard other people say this but it does get easier even though the material gets harder. I didn't have a problem in Nursing Fundmentals but thought Med Surg I was very difficult and then Med Surg II was hard but it built on top of things learned in Med Surg I so it wasn't as difficult for me. As far as the work load goes I had more in Med Surg II but care plans made more sense and were easier to put together. You just have to learn how to manage your time and realize that in nursing school you just don't have a lot of free time.

I agree manage your time. Take it day by day. Realize all this focus and sacrifice pays off in the end. Keep your eye on the prize.
