at stay at home mom for 5 yrs now and although I know school will be

to adults! I am taking English, Math, Intro to Socialogy and A&P

Hi April,

Welcome! What I did last fall when I took A&P I was to skim through the first few basic chapters. Not all instructors will start at the beginning of the book, so without a class syllabus it would be hard to "study". Just skim through it and read the chapter overviews or summaries. :D My best advice for A&P is to study a little bit everyday and do wait until right before a test or you WILL lose you mind

Hi, April!

I have two young ones, ages 7 and 5 1/2. I will be taking microbiology this fall.

My best advice about studying A & P is go over your notes as soon after class a possible (that evening is fine:rolleyes: ) Highlight the major points, words, etc. Studying it about 15-20 every day and you should have down pat. Don't try and cram information, it is so much easier to just look over it for a short time every night.

Good luck!

Hello Miss April,

My wife and I were reading your post together, and got tickled trying to imagine your little boys. My mother had a similiar situation, except they were four of us (me, and my three brothers). I know you've got a handful, and you are truly blessed. I think you're going about your schooling in the right way, and should be just fine. It's a little tough at first, buy after you develope some good study habits you'll get in the groove. I would suggest taking A&P maybe by itself, or with no more that one other course if you're just starting back. I had A&P I along with Algebra during my first semester, and I was really stressed out at times. I was able to make it through, but I had to study a lot more than some of the younger students. I wasn't a good student when I was in H.S., so I spend a lot of time "catching up"with the others. I start ADN schooling this fall, after two years of getting prerequisite courses out of the way. As for study tips to begin A&P, I'd start by getting cell structure basics crammed in your head. This stuff never goes away, and you can't go wrong by getting this back in your head. Maybe touch on some general Chemistry, you know, atoms, the periodic chart of the elements etc. I found it helpful to write my on notes, while studying the chapters, and highlighting stuff with different colored markers. This way, I could pick these most important terms out of the text as a review just before taking my tests. The main thing about studying A&P, is to KEEP SOMETHING IN YOUR HANDS TO STUDY, every available waking moment. I never knew when I had studied enough, so I just kept digging! I came out of both A&P I and II with "A's", but I had to study A LOT. Be cool, and take care. If I can ever be of help, feel free to get in touch, really. PEACE. Darby

Hi April,

My name is Fatima, I'm a 29 yr. old wife and mother to 3 children. I have 2 dd's who are 7 adn 6, a son who's 19 mths. and I am currently expecting my 4th child due Jan. 9 (My 30th b-day.....:D ) So as you can see, I'm pretty busy.....lol. I am starting my nursing program in the Fall. I am very excited. I'm only going to be taking 2 courses, Nursing 107(which is split up into 4 classes:Clinical, Laboratory, Lecture and Clinical) and Math 116 (which a low level Medical Mathematics class). I have orientation next month for 4 days. I'm a little anxious about this, I'm sitting here wondering what could we possible talk about for 4 days....lol. Right now I'm just trying to get my medical records together. I have to get a physical and all kinds of things. They want me to get a chest x-ray but I know I won't be able to get that due to my pregnancy, hope this doesn't cause a problem.

Well, hope to post to you soon.

Hi April :)

Oh, do I understand the need for adult conversation. I was a sahm for 12 years. Just went back to work, part-time this past January.

I still only work Sat., for the post office (fill in vacation days also). So, I too, am looking forward to starting school in the fall.

I am taking Algebra, Psych 101, Academic writing, and Biology 101.

We have five children still at home.......11, 12, 13, 14, 16 years.

I just hope that I can juggle schooling, cleaning, cooking, work and still have time for family things.

Best of luck April :)

Hey April, Boy are you guys going to make the "Big Bucks". Congratulations and Good Luck, Shygirl

Welcome April!!! I don't have any Kiddos of my own but maybe a suggestion is to buy an Anatomy coloring book and spend some time coloring with you children...Good way to learn and spend time with the kids! Just a thought! Good luck this semester and keep us posted!

Welcome April

My best advice for A&P is to read and re-read the information.

Are you in the Dallas area? If so---which CC are you taking your pre-req's? I would HIGHLY recommend taking A&P and microbiology at Richland. If this is the CC that you are attending, PM me and I will tell you which professors to take and which to avoid.

Good luck to you. I have a really good friend who just finished her junior year at Baylor's nursing program. TWU also has a really good program here in Dallas, and also in Houston.
