3rd TRY!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

ok, i graduated in may last year and took my first nclex in october (took so long because school ""forgot"" to send the bon my letter of completion and delayed my application for months!!!!!!!!!! my advice is take nclex asap after graduation please!!!

first try, all my other friends passed so i thought it would be easy and just did kaplan qbanks which some people told me that will be enough. and guess what i failed with 75 questions. i tried pvt and directed me right to the ccv page.......:(

second try, i took it in february, i did ncsbn questions, saunders, hurst lectures. i failed with 89 questions. and about the pvt trick, i thought i passed because i received a pop up but it was different message than other people was saying. so i found out that the exam should be in "delivered successfully" in order to try pvt trick. and by the evening it directed me to the ccv page.

ok, i felt miserable, miserable, miserable.

i deactivated my facebook, i ignored all the phone calls, txt msgs, and just stayed home. home. home. for months!!!!!!

but, we know that we can't give up.

we went through all those years in nursing school and that cannot be wasted!!!

so, i sat and figured,

i compared the analysis from the first and second try.

i had more "below passing level" in the second try even though the exam ended in more questions, which means that kaplan helped more with nclex.

then, i decided to go for kaplan again. i registered for kaplan on demand.

this time, i read the kaplan book, all question trainers, lessons online, qbanks (just in case if i fail again, i needed to get the money back so i tried every resources!! *kaplan=money back guarantee*)

i was going to take nclex in the beginning of may but i was so hesitant to take it because i was scared to go through it again. i postponed it maybe about 10 times!! anywy, i took it on june 15th, friday!!

ok, my thought was to go over 75 questions because i know i failed with 75 questions the first time. i thought the more question i get, the more chance of passing. but!!! omg it shut off at 75 questions!!!!!!!! i felt again, miserable, miserable, miserable, i knew i failed again. feeling depressed, crying, i came home.

i just checked the pvt just in case. omg!!!!!!! i got a pop up!!!!!!

it wasnt the message from the second try. it was the good pop up that everyone was talking about!!!! i am singing screaming joy with excitement!!!!!!

i could not believe it. i checked the pvt hourly. i keep getting pop up!!!!

omg, i can not wait 2 business days!!! to check on the official result!!!

i checked pvt again today and it is still giving me a good pop up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

people!! dont take it on friday!!!! you must wait 4 daysssss to check on the official result!!!!!!!! it is freaking my heart out!!!!!!!!

i am waiting for official result to tell my parents!!!!!! cant wait!!!!!!!!! :)

one more!! dont give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Pvt tricks works, I took my NCLEX PN shut off at 80 questions ..... went home and tried the trick and I kept getting the pop up .... two days later I found out I passed :D

By the way, to anyone who failed once, twice or even more times (and to those who passed on their first attempt and are smug about it) once you pass, you are an RN. It doesn't matter how many times you took the test, how many questions you answered, how much time it took to complete the exam. Once you pass and the state issues your license, you're a Registered Nurse, just like the rest of us. No one's license indicates they passed on the first try--or the fifth, no one's license states they passed after 75 questions, or after 250 questions. You pass, you're a nurse! Period. Don't let anyone try to belittle you for not being successful the first (or fourth) time. Some people are good test takers, others get anxious and mess up (not because they don't know the information, but because they either second-guess themselves or they panic on 'official' tests).

I happened to have been one of the fortunate ones who passed with 75 questions on my first attempt, so this isn't 'sour grapes' on my part. I just recognize that test-taking abilities and clinical abilities are two completely different skills.

Good luck to all!

OMG, patti, I am in NJ.........................;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; i know nj has max of 3 tries and u need to take refresher course if you fail 3 times.......;; if sunday quick result works, i will know by today afternoon.......... OMG;; cant breathe..

Take a deep breath! You truly have no idea whether you passed or not. I've tutored grads to prepare them for the NCLEX, some who were taking it the second or third time. I tell them NOT to do the PVT trick for this very reason. The trick works for first and second time test takers (usually, but there are probably rare cases of wrong pop-ups; Pearson doesn't endorse this 'trick' for that reason). There could be nothing worse for a person retaking the exam than to believe they passed, then later getting horrible news. Go for a walk, see a movie, clean your house, do SOMETHING to distract yourself. Yep, it'll be agony to wait, but worrying, rereading that pop-up, and reviewing test questions in your mind will do nothing but get you more and more distraught. And assuming you passed (or failed) won't do anything to change the reality. I'm really hoping you passed--now shut down your computer and try to put this out of your mind until you get dependable news!

I did the pvt the first time and it came up the good pop up, and I just could not take that as the truth. I agree with Patti, keep busy, I pushed mowed my yard (over an acre and a half) I would start then once the test thoughts left my brain I would stop and do other things. Once I started to fret again, I would fire up my push mower and start again. I did finish my yard with about 7 hrs of wait time left. Thank goodness my daughter had Tball so I took her to that and we played at the park afterwards. We got home with 3 hours to go. I prepared my family lunch, my husband took the 3 kids swimming outside, I sat inside and said a small prayer, cleaned up the house a bit, then around 1 I started refreshing the Pearson Vue page. I called a friend and talked with her. At 159 still no results, at 200 I hit refresh and there it was quick results are available. So I went out had my family get out of the pool and come in for reassurance in case it said failed. It said PASS! It sure was the longest 48 hours of my life! Good luck to you and to all who read this post!

yes, it is the LONGEST 48 hours i am still experiencing.......... i guess this is how you feel like during anxiety attack. Let me go do something else *sigh* BTW, congratulations 'drbettner'!!!!!!!!! Hopefully i can pass on the same message back!!

It was definitely the longest 49hrs for me! I literally checked both BON and PVT for option to pay for quick results which finally came at 49hours post exam appt. Its all worth the wait!

OK, GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! quick result works over the weekends too!!!!! I received my result!!!!!!! "PASSED"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Job! You are now an RN!!!!

:yeah:

Not to dash your hopes, but the pop up merely says something to the effect that you are not eligible to take the exam. Most people see this pop-up when they passed; they are ineligible to retake the exam because they passed. Another reason a person may be ineligible is because they failed the maximum number of times. In some states there is a limit (usually 3 times) a person can take/fail the test without completing a formal remedial course; if this is the case in your state, you may have exhausted the number of opportunities to take the test without passing, so the pop-up is telling you you are ineligible to take the test--not because you passed, but because you failed the third time. If this is the case (and I hope it's not!), that pop-up won't change until you are eligible to retake the exam (either by completing a refresher course or waiting a period of time before reapplying).

Dear Patti RN, do you happen to know how many time I can retake NCLEX RN in CA without taking the refresher course? I was taking the test for the 3rd time on 8-8-12, now I kept getting the "good pop up" on PVT and I am aware of what you are saying and it's just great that CA won't have any quick result neither quick process to find out. I know it's only been a couple days but it's been killing me!
