Rate My Professor

Published

Since I am almost done with my prerequisites, I wanted to share something that I thought was fun and interesting. If you are signing up for a course, or done with a course, you can put your two cents here and rate your professor. You can see what other students have written about the professor before you take the class.

Of course we all know that some professors you just can't get away from. I thought this was an interesting site regardless.

Let me know what you all think....

Thanks! This will come in handy (hopefully sooner rather than later!)

There is a site like this for physicians as well but I can't remember what it is.

Thanks again!

Oh cool... thanks!

I just reworked my schedule (which doesn't look very pretty now) in order to have a prof for A&P 1 that people on rate my professor said was there favorite throughout college etc. I figure A&P will be a difficult course and I'll need all the help I can get so I'm following their advice. I'll let you know if it was worth it ;)

I can tell you now, it's well worth it! I worked my schedule hard to get a good professor for physiology since my anatomy professor was just ok. It's totally paid off. I've learned a lot from a professor who really want to teach so students could learn and I've earned an A so far (lab and lecture finals are left). I got a C in anatomy and really wish it was a better grade but I'm trying really hard to make up for it in physiology and microbiology. Good Luck! Start memorizing your bones NOW!

yeah people said she seems so passionate about what she teaches and it seems like that quality makes a huge difference hey? yeah i should probably run out and buy my text books soon and start prepping - september is creeping up fast! thank you for the advice!!

None of my summer professors were even on the rate or pick my prof sites. Thinking they are new. Algebra teacher had an asain name, hope their english is good because I have had teachers you could barely understand.

I don't get the whole hard to understand thing. I can understand everyone, even if they have a thick accent.

My husband has a very difficult time understanding accents. I had an economics professor fresh from China and everyone in the class had a difficult time understanding him. I don't usually have a hard time understanding accents unless they are really thick. It's a legitamate concern though.

I agree, different students have different needs when it comes to learning. Some of us are audio learners, some of us are visual learners, and some can just read on their own and learn. I had a professor once who studdered when she spoke and had a nervous muscle tick also. It was a bit hard to get past that, but I wanted to and was able to....doesn't mean that everyone could. I had another professor who never made eye contact with anyone and paced the room in circles for the entire term, that was a little hard to deal with too, but I was able to get past it. At first I would hurt my neck trying to watch him walk around and around but then I finally just gave up and looked at my notes.

I live on that site before registering for classes. Sometimes, due to schedual reasons, you have to take the "bad" ones though. I think half of it reflects on the students, also. Effort, and determination outweigh a poor instructor. IMO

for a basic conversation, sure, but when the teacher can barely speak english it's hard to understand them teach on a complex subject in my experience. if they talk fast it is even worse.
