I faced racial discrimination and bullying while studying nursing in Melbourne, Australia by my clinical teacher and the university staff. It was one of the most horrible experience I have encountered.
How should I report this ?
If you truly believe you are being discriminated against based on your race, then you should provide evidence to support that and take your complaints to the highest authority. Contact the local member of federal government if need be and lodge your complaint with that person.
Quite frankly, I get jacked off (that's a true blue Aussie saying BTW), with people pulling the race card. It's old and tired, that one!
I've known people to use reverse racism when they don't get their own way. Are you sure you're not indulging in this practise? Do you yourself perhaps hold contempt towards Australians and Australia? Are you perhaps being overly sensitive? I'm not trying to deny you your experience or your perception of your experience, but I think since you speak of fairness ............ that needs to go BOTH ways.
I wish you the very best and hope you reach a satisfactory outcome with this issue which clearly has caused you angst and hurt.
Am a black female who went on a holiday to Australia last year. Before I went, I had heard horror stories of how badly I would be treated. However, I went to Gold Coast with an open mind and loved it. I feel that God gave me this colour and whoever doesnt like it its their problem not mine. I dont think that Australia is racist. Australia is a lovely country. A few people living in Australia may have a problem with people of colour but I would not label the entire population as racist.

I have already provided whatever evidence (that comes from my memories) but it seems that the university is protecting that person.
When a rapist rapes a victim, the victim only has her memories of the incident. It is all the evidence that she can give short of videotaping the event.
I have nothing against australians but I do find american and canadian white much more friendlier and less racist. That is from my experience.
I am out of Australia now as I am sick of the hypocrisy practised by the university.

If you come as a tourist, racism can't really be felt. It is a different matter if you work with them.
I am not saying ALL white australians are racist but I have encountered a few.

I am delighted you enjoyed your visit to our magnificent country.
I'm also glad you came with your mind open and that your positive attitude provided you with a positive and happy experience.
Us Aussies can be a bit of a weird mob, sometimes. But if people take the time to understand our humour, they come to realise we're mostly just fun loving and easy to get along with.
I hope you return one day and enjoy more of our amazing country and it's people.

Again, it's regrettable you had an experience which has caused you hurt. I would encourage you not to judge ALL universities nor ALL Australians, on this one unfortunate encounter.
There are other universities here which might provide you a more pleasant experience than the one you were attending.
I wish you every success and happier experiences in the future.

I have been in australia for about 1 year and people have been good. If anyone discriminates against you based on your race it reflects on them and shows just how ignorant they are. Don't let it change your attitude on everyone. Good luck

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, I have never been to Australia, but have had a few Aussie friends in Europe and in the U.S. I also happen to a mulit-racial female, so I would hope never to experience an incidence such as this. I have heard about other peoples experiences in Australia, and I think what happens is if you are a minority and new to Australia you may be exposed to some unpleasant ignorant types (that exists everywhere, even in the U.S), sometimes it can be surprising and have a traumatic affect on you in the new country you're visiting, and after a valid discriminatory experience you may find yourself on defense mode, analyzing every negative comment/look. Some may be racial, some just may be that persons nature with everyone. I say think this over once you are calm and unemotional, then decide whether to file a complaint. From this point forward make an effort to have pride in yourself and to bounce off any negativity automatically from people, after all they don't know you, why should it matter, let THEM be miserable, and YOU go on being Happy. Good Luck in your career;-)
