online LVN program?
I'm so sick and tired of people always bashing private college tuition rates, you don't know peoples situations or needs. And by the time most people finish their pre reqs and get off the waiting list at the lower cost community colleges I will be FINISHED at the more expensive one, to "me" that is worth money spending. And not sure if you understood my earlier post, I was actually saying the college I am going to is 2k CHEAPER.

online LVN program?
Actually DNI is 23k not 25k. I'm starting in April, that's how I know, and btw there are a lot of students transferring from Platt to DNI for some reason.

Racial discrimination in Australia
I'm sorry to hear about your experience, I have never been to Australia, but have had a few Aussie friends in Europe and in the U.S. I also happen to a mulit-racial female, so I would hope never to experience an incidence such as this. I have heard about other peoples experiences in Australia, and I think what happens is if you are a minority and new to Australia you may be exposed to some unpleasant ignorant types (that exists everywhere, even in the U.S), sometimes it can be surprising and have a traumatic affect on you in the new country you're visiting, and after a valid discriminatory experience you may find yourself on defense mode, analyzing every negative comment/look. Some may be racial, some just may be that persons nature with everyone. I say think this over once you are calm and unemotional, then decide whether to file a complaint. From this point forward make an effort to have pride in yourself and to bounce off any negativity automatically from people, after all they don't know you, why should it matter, let THEM be miserable, and YOU go on being Happy. Good Luck in your career;-)

U.S. Citizen - Wants to go to School/Work in Aus
Hey Guys, I live in California and haven't started my LVN program yet, but soon. I have considered Australia for a while, and hear they have a program for foreign doctors/nurses to immigrate? I lived in the UK for a while and watched a lot of migrate to Australia tv shows, that got me pumped. I'm also a big fan of Kath & Kim (Lol). Anyways, I'm excited that I may actually have a chance of moving there legally once I'm a nurse. If you have any info or advice please let me know. Thanks.

Moms going back to school.
I have a daughter who will be 4 in September, I haven't started my LVN program yet, I'm still trying to find the right one (AND possibly move out of state). I really don't know how I'm going to get this done, all I know is that I'm 30 and I can't afford to keep putting it off.

Has anyone gone to Concorde, DNI, Platt?
I found some OLD threads on some of these, but would like to know if any of these are a good school? My long term goal is to become an RN (poss BSN). Right now I want to start out as an LVN. I don't have time for waiting lists or pre-reqs, I want to be working in a year, I'm a single mom. I called all 3 schools Concorde, Dallas Nursing Institute (formerly ntpci) and Platt. The tuitions vary from high 18k-21,6k. My dilemma is that ALL of these schools have something I like, and they all say they are accredited, but I don't even know if that particular accrediation means anything. It's so confusing. I don't want to have problems doing a LVN to RN course after I graduate. I am thinking about doing a LVN to RN online once I'm an LVN. Any feedback would be appreciated. THANKS!

LVN/LPN School info for everyone (tuition etc)
Thanks PMFB-RN, It doesn't have to be private schools, anything that will help newcomers or exhausted pre-students like myself. I've found out just looking for a good nursing school is a job in itself! Thanks for your contribution;)

LVN/LPN School info for everyone (tuition etc)
Like a lot of you I am looking to find a good LVN program, I personally am looking for a private school because I don't want to wait 2-3 years just to get into a Community College. I got really SICK and TIRED of calling these schools and got the used car salesman type routine. They won't even give you tuition info over the phone, unless you drive there and spend an hour listening to all their B.S (as if they're the only school you're considering!) I personally don't have time to drive to several schools just to get basic info. SO I thought it would save TIME and MONEY if we started a list of schools that we have contacted or been to and listed the VITAL info, so new people won't have to suffer the unnecessary used car salesman tactics. Please list the state, city name of school and as much info as possible for other potential students!! THANKS! Here's my list.... California- Western Career College (San Leandro) 4 terms(A year basically) full time M-F 8-5 is $40,000 WOW!!! And the admissions rep was a %&*&ch! Maric North Hollywood 52 weeks full time 8-3:30 Around $25,500 Nice school and program, but PUSHY admission reps!! Maric San Diego 15 months, flat out refused any tuition info over the phone! He was a jerk. Concorde - San Diego 13 months FT 8-3 $25,000 Nice lady, was very helpful and understanding on the phone. Casa Loma - Van Nuys 52 week program FT $24,000 Older looking school, but good curriculum and very helpful admissions office. Please Add your experiences to this list!!

Pay rate in Los Angeles
Oh, Ok then, I think that is more realistic, I believe I have seen some nurses making that kind of money but do your research;-)

Pay rate in Los Angeles
I'm assuming you're moving from England because of the GPB sign I saw (I lived there recently). I'm not an expert, but that works out to be over 60usd per hour, and I haven't heard of that. You may want to go to a site called Salary.com or payscale.com, so much of it depends on the type of nurse you are, qualifications etc. If there aren't many responses to this question, do a search:-) Have a nice journey and good luck!

LVN Schools in Bay Area Info
Hi, I really want to stay in CA to do my schooling and career, but need to move from L.A. I decided I'm going to just find another place in Cali. Most likely the San Fran area. I need some info on LVN programs that don't have waiting lists, pre-reqs etc, so I guess a Vocational college, that will be less than 18 months. I have been finding a lot of the schools in this area on this site are CC's, not looking for that unless they don't have a wait list etc. If possible also tell me an estimate tuition, since it will be like pulling teeth to get finance info over the phone from them. THANKS
