Well, ours started today. Very nice cooler that holds a 6-pack that has a netted beach bag on top. Hospital colors and logo, of course. Inside was a beach ball, a bottle huggie and a frisbee..all with hospital logo..lol. I'm impressed, though. This is the biggie, I'm sure..but just the beginning.
Anyone else wish to share their gifts????
I went and got my gifts yesterday. The first office gave us food and travel mugs that said 'nurses are heroes.' The second office gave us these huge bright green and white umbrellas with the company logo. The colors scream "look at me, I'm carrying an umbrella here!" This is the gift that was too big to mail. Afterwards I went shopping. Gifts to myself.
i guess one of the oxygen vendors offered to buy pizza for the nurses tonight.
they showed up with 2.
our night supervisor went out & bought more so we wouldn't *****. dunno whose budget that came out of.
one of the patients saw me eating it & i'm sure there will be a negative comment in her discharge survey. we will be reprimandend & told not to eat in front of the patients.... bad nursie:imbar :imbar

MONDAY: The doctors perform all the bedside care, the nurses breeze in and out of the patients rooms, shake their hands, charge a $200 consult fee, scribble some indecipherable gibberish in the charts, throw the charts on the counter (where the doctors can't see them...oh, and of course don't flag them either), stroll off the unit and then ignore their pages.
TUESDAY: Free parking in the doctor's reserved spots!
WEDNESDAY: Administer Go-Lytely to the hospital administrator of your choice!
THURSDAY: Install a call light inside your "favorite" patient's room, then each nurse gets a turn at pressing it incessantly...
FRIDAY: Free massages and margaritas in the cafeteria. Hey, it is almost the weekend...

Just thought this one bore repeating! :chuckle
The hospital is doing some little thing - ice cream social served up by the administrators, I believe. They finally at least got it right and remembered to come around on nocs.
The clinic did a cake/soda thing Monday, but I figure they show their appreciation for me daily with respect and every other week with my check, so Nurses' Week isn't a huge deal.
Hi, All!
For Nurse's Week my boss gave me a week off with pay, a months worth of tanning plus full body massage; an all expense paid trip to the big city to do some shopping for summer clothes; three new books related to Home Health Care- (one with some really cool patient handouts) AND 3 white scrub warm-ups with the logo and business name above the left hand pocket.
My business manager gave me a big bunch of flowers with a card expressing his appreciation for my contribution to the business and he's taking me out to dinner.
Now that's what I call 'appreciation'.
Peace,
Lois Jean
Our hospital is really going all out this year. In fact I think some other departments are getting jealous. We now have a nursing comittee, and they are the ones responsible for Nurses Week. There are drawings everyday, once an hour from 1pm to 9pm (So even night shift is involved), for things like a hair cut, a massage, a manicure, a facial, dinner gift certificates, door prizes etc. We all also got a brand new t-shirt which we get to wear to work one day. There will be the usual cake and ice-cream, plus BBQ one day. We are also having a fashion show of the new scrubs that are available. This is the first year ever that I can think of them doing this much for nurses. It has been sooooo much fun. HAPPY NURSES DAY to everyone out there. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. The world wouldn't be the same without us. :)
