I guess it is not just the term but the overuse of it. Anyone who has suffered anything wants closure. Cut your hand, you need closure, lost a spouse...closure, thousands dead from natural disaster...closure. Pretty soon, everything will be closed and then people will "open up" but then people will want closure on that.
More psycho-babble.
Catch phrases can get annoying when overused, for sure. How about 'work smarter not harder'. Like that'll fix it all up, eh?
And 'critical thinking' is starting to get on my last nerve too....
A lot of these buzzwords are adopted and used in condescending fashion by managers too, and used to criticize individuals for supposed failures vs looking at and dealing with the real problems.
There is never any real closure to anything that is painful or stressful. There may be softening of memory but closure to me implies putting it away...in a box so to speak....so that being around you will make OTHER people less uncomfortable.
Buzz words, jargon, psychobabble are used by people who don't bother to think about what they are saying or don't care enough to think.

Does anybody else hate the term "closure". I feel it is one of the most overused and banal terms. Everytime you turm around someone is in the media describing how they want "closure" on this or that or the other.
Aaaargh!!!!
My rant has stopped!
