quiting?

how many of you ever feeling like quiting nursing school?

Almost everyday I think of quitting but I keep on pushing myself. The only thing that keeps me in school are the clinicals -- I absolutely love the clinicals.

I was talking to a staff nurse today during clinicals and she has been a nurse for almost 13 years. I asked her if she still enjoyed her job and she said she loves her job but she told me she HATED nursing school and hated the nursing profession for the first 5 years. But now she loves it. Hopefully I don't hate the profession when I start practicing!

It's the hardest thing I've done and it wears me out so much that sometimes I'll sit and cry for hours but I can't honestly say there's never been one second where I wanted to quit.

I must add that although I think of quitting sometimes, it isn't necessarily due to the "difficulty" of nursing school. It is because I hate the hoops they make students jump through, and the unnecessary stress put onto the students. Nursing school is definitely difficult, but totally manageable.

i actually did quit nursing school! One week later, I regretted the decision and it became an obsession to get back in. I was not able to get back in until two years later (because hurricane katrina hit etc). But, now that I'm graduating in May, I just thank God for giving me a second chance.

(I still beat myself up because ofcourse I woulda shoulda coulda been finished by now, but, that's my consequence for a spur of the moment decision.)

ALL the time. I've got 7 months to go, and I can't wait to just be done with it. I've worked with a couple of other nurses who went through my program, and they have universally said "just get through it, nursing is easier than nursing school, you'll learn everything you need to know once you're working." It helps a lot to know that I Just have to do 7 more months of jumping through hoops, and then I get to do the fun part all the time instead of 2 days a week during clinicals.

actual patient care. I didn't go to nursing school to learn how to properly format a paper in APA format, I went to nursing school to learn how to care for my patients. I think it's fun to be in the hospital, doing what I want to do with my life. It's fun to look foward to going to work in the morning, it's fun to be excited about what I'm going to do that day. The b.s. we have to put up with so much in classes? Not really fun, IMO. Just a necessary hoop to jump through to get my degree and start my career.

I haven't thought about it yet, I'm more into looking to the future and attaining my masters so the ADN is a stepping stone to my future lol

Most days are ok, but the bad ones feel like they last forever. I keep my morale up by fantasizing what I'm going to say to some of the evil b@*tch's on pinning day. Not that I would actually say what I felt, but it sure is fun fantasizing about it. Muahahaha. :lol2:
