How do you guys unwind after allot of shifts?
Wish I had time to take a bubble bath or go to the gym, but with a FT job and 3 kids with activities at home neither one is an option.
I manage with shorter therapy. I park in the furthest lot I can away from the hospital and I carry a book every day.
I have to wait for the shuttle bus and wait through the ride to get to my car. I stick my face in my book, don't talk to anyone and ignore the traffic. Folks I work with know this is my ritual and don't bother me but occasionally I will hash out an issue while riding.
I am usually to the car and ready to pull out of the lot in 20 minutes. Much more relaxed ride home than when I could park right out front and be driving in less than 5 minutes.
Relaxation is where you can get it and what you can make it.:monkeydance:
I live alone, so no bouncing ideas off another person, LOL. But one of the benifets of being alone is talking to ones self. I do all the usual, bath, drink and candles. Then I talk to myself. I tell my side and then tell the other persons side till I know both. During this conversation I find I have let out all my feelings about this situation and can let it go. Sometimes saying things out loud where no one can hear you gives you the freedom to clean out your thoughts. Does this fix things? No! But it gives you release of the power they hold over you. At times, this also gives you new ideas on how to handle the situation.
If it was a particularly stressfull shift go to the firing range and blow off a couple hundred rounds. Takes the edge right off you.
Especially if it is a large bore weapon....45ACP...12ga....444 Remington:jester: . Something along that line...I am not a violent person, but it helps...A LOT!!!!!!!!!!
This completely made me laugh! I know you that you are talking about your pets, but I immediately thought of something else. Just shows how even occassionally working on a teenage sex offender unit will warp your mind.
Hey the same thought popped in my head also. I guess thats from being aroung my sex crazed husband.

I've never worked on a teeneage sex offender in my life, heck, not even an adult one, but I still thought the same thing. I'm just a pervert.
