85 questions shut off and failed!!

Published

Sucks, paid for the quick results today and was literally shocked it said failed.

Feels like mike tyson hit me in the gut!!!

I got 3 incident report questions and 2 advanced directives. Probably 10-14 select all that apply. 1 picture (PPD shot) know I got that right, googled it!!!

I dont even know where to begin to study for the retake!!!

Man, besides myself right now....

paid another 200 and waiting for authorization to test and retake!!!

got to get back on the horse!!!!

Congrats, what did you use to study?

I just did saunders CD the red one and the exam cram. Thats it!

I took mine yesterday, I had calculations, priority, like 10-15 sata, drag and drop, ekg strip. Lots of what would you contribute to a meet of a specific disease etc.

I got shut off at 85 questions. Not sure how I did, gotta wait 2-3weeks since im in cali.

I mainly study, nclex cram, nclex3000, and saunders. question after question.

Can you just do daycare until you take the test and pass it? After watching the baby all day long, it must be hard to focus on the review material. Do you have a friend/relative who you could pay to babysit till you pass the test?

Congrats on the new baby.

My mom is going to come over at like 8am until 11-12 so I can go study every other day......

Hopefully, that will help.

Content I feel fine, its the knowing exactly what they are asking is screwing me up. The best, the worst, the first, etc type that is killing me......

Hope you pass!!! I couldnt imagine waiting 2-3 weeks! WOW!!!

I wish i had the math. I didnt get 1 math question. Math dosage calculations are very easy for me....Im sure the type of questions giving me troubles are easy for others!!!!!

I think im gonna bite the bullet and get kaplan anytime classroom so I can learn to dissect the ? and see what they want....

Hate to spend the money but I have no choice.....

You are correct, get back on the horse.

You may have not taken enough time to review your answers.

Your school counselor is your best bet towards remediation.

Good luck, you can do this, let us know how it goes.

You can't seriously be for real with this....it's dumb to expect a nurse to show competency in all areas before granting licensure?

Medication questions are silly....and you want to be a nurse? SATA would seem to be testing ability to think critically and recognize multiple factors impacting a situation, and again, you think that's silly, but want to be a nurse?

This just sounds like an aggrieved child. Until you stop blaming everything outside yourself, you won't succeed.

Until you get your CPR in the mail, I suggest you concentrate on NCLEX test taking strategy. If you're able to narrow things down to 2 answers and consistently pick the wrong one, I suspect that it's not a content issue per se. When you do questions, regardless of whether you got the question right or wrong, study the question, answers, and rationales for why the question is answered in a particular way. Look for any key words and phrases that may point to the right answer. Look for what the question is really asking you. The NCLEX looks to see if you're above passing in several broad categories. Those categories are posted elsewhere on this site... in multiple threads. See if you can figure out which category or categories the question belongs in. Once you know what category the question is in, how do you want to leave the patient for each category? Better off.. but how in each case?

As far as delegation goes, UAPs are simply "Unlicensed Assistive Personnel" and CNA/PCT staff don't have licenses. For purposes of the NCLEX, you do... so how/what could you delegate to them? That also, incidentally, includes EMS staff (not that you'd be asked this on the NCLEX) because their licenses and certifications aren't in nursing.

What day did you take your test? I took mine on Wednesday. It stopped at 85 questions. I thought it was kind of easy as well. Also, like you, I was top of my class. I've been trying to register for another test on Pearson Vue and it won't let me. I put my credit card number and I get the pop-up saying that, "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam...." So I think I passed. You sound like you should be able to pass this test no problem. However, trying to study with a 6 month old baby while trying to do it sounds next to impossible. I don't think you should waste money on any other review programs. You have Saunders. Just concentrate on doing the practice questions. Do as many as possible whenever you can. Once you're able to put in a few hours of quiet study time per day, you'll do well. If I can give one piece of advice, take plenty of time on each and every question. That's one thing I did differently on this test than I usually do on tests. I would read it several times, answer, then read it again. There were some questions where after reading it a few times, I realized that the right answer wasn't obvious and I changed my answer.

I'm sorry you failed. :( But keep at it and you'll pass next time.

Thanks for the kind words. I took it Tuesday morning.....

I was shocked as I have posted.

The people who have passed in my class were at or near the bottom, but that dont matter. They passed, I didnt! For whatever rhyme or reason, I didnt, they did and I told them all congrats.

The baby part, well obviously it is tough, especially with the teething and getting up at night. But, I dont want to use that as an excuse. The wife wants me to wait but I feel if I wait, I will lose what I know!

I do have the red saunders and I did do about 1500-2000 questions, I wrote down the ones I really had no idea on but the way that saunders is written compared to the nclex is WAYYYYY different. The nclex was unlike any I have seen.......

Be careful with the above information since you are not supposed to post questions that are on the NCLEX. You can post the types of questions (SATA, EKG, Med Dosage Calcs, etc) but not where is xyz located or med D is ordered at abc mg/kg/hr for a total of 8 hours. How many mg will infuse in that time, etc.

Dusckjewel, if you have nothing of advice to say then you had better keep it mute. Did I say that Im blaming everyone but myself? how dare YOU?? YOU DO NOT KNOW my situation or how much ive worked hard, so kindly zip it up with your judgement and keep it moving!! I know must of my medications, but when they start asking you meds that are rarely used or that have never been taught in school or clinicals, then yes it is annoying. I did well in Pharmacology so stop making it seem like I do nothing but expect results >_>

And how do you explain the people who guessed and still passed? Sorry to burst your bubble but 75 questions does not equally determine if someone is gonna be a great nurse! In my CPR, i had above passing in all areas, except pharm where i was "near passing" so forgive me for my frustration. Im not perfect and i know I need to alter my study plan again, but if you dont like what I have to say, then kindly Keep it moving, cause you are NOT my mother, teacher, elder nor my God, so keep your snide remarks to YOURSELF!!

Until you have taken NCLEX, you're in no position to beat someone else down who in all likelihood is venting.
