I see lots of posts about passing or failing with 75 questions, just curious what the stats are. I would like to think that nursing school prepares us enough that those who get 75 are mostly passing?

Mine also shut off at 75 and I thought "Crap! Instructors said it could go either way with 75 questions and I finished in 45 minutes total!! I've failed for sure!!!" Nope, passed!!!!

The longest 2 days of my life waiting for the 'quick' results! I hadn't known about the Pearson Vue 'trick' then.

Every nurse I talk to says if you get 75 questions only and it shuts off you've pretty much passed (99% of the time) but instructors in school said that's not the case if you've been getting every question wrong. However, if you notice the questions getting harder and it shuts off at 75, you've definitely passed. If they never really get harder, then you're in trouble!

Congrats on passing!

am i one of the few who walked away at 75, feeling like i aced it?

i was actually suspicious because the test was too darned easy.

NOT so in nsg school.

i struggled, second-guessed myself all the time.

so it's not like i'm used to feeling confident.

but with nclex, i would have been shocked to find out i failed.

Leslie, I thought the same thing - seemed so easy compared to the tests we had in nursing school. But then I started second-guessing myself and panicking that maybe I didn't pass! EEEEEK. But I did. lol - Alissa

So does the PVT work for sure?!?! I'm so worried I can't sleep. I even took a benadryl to help me sleep!

as far as I know, the PVT works - if it asks you to enter credit card information, that's not a good sign, but if you get the pop up saying you've recently scheduled this test, then you've passed.

Although 48 hours seems like FOREVER to wait for the "quick" results, (I'm so glad I paid the $8 so I knew for sure), it really isn't all that long - think of all the countless hours we spent stressing over nursing EXAMS, 2 days of stressing is nothing compared to all that!!! Get a few Valium from your doctor (just kidding, although probably a good idea if you're really going crazy & not sleeping) or go to an amusement park or some other activity/day trip to pass the time. I just spent time with my kids and took them out for the day on Tuesday after taking the NCLEX-RN on a Monday. And then I had to wait a few hours on Wednesday before my results were available on the quick results hotline/internet. I had my actual license in my hand within a week. I thought that was pretty quick, considering they said it may take 6-8 weeks to get your actual license.

Just remember that the NCLEX was designed to trick you lol. It's a tough test and it's NOT shameful to have to take it more than once. Many awesome RN's had to take it a 2nd or 3rd time. The NCLEX doesn't really test your knowledge base as much as it tests HOW WELL YOU TAKE TESTS! I found the review course I took was invaluable - that was the only studying I got the chance to do.

Yes. I was told it would post within 48 hours from when I took the test. That was right on the money- I checked at 49.25 hours.:D

That's not what she's asking. Supposedly there's a PVT (Pearson Vue Trick) where you can check the Pearson Vue website within a couple of hours of taking the NCLEX. If you try to reschedule your NCLEX exam and get to the credit card information, it's a good indication that you failed. If it won't let you get to the credit card information and you get a pop-up saying "you have recently scheduled this exam" or something to that effect, it means you have passed.

I passed! I'm so excited, the PVT trick really did work! Just paid the 8 bucks and saw this morning. I'm over the moon happy!:D

I think that you have more of a chance to pass with 75 qs then fail. Considering they allow you more questions to prove your competency, therefore you really have to get a large amount wrong to not even be able to get those extra few questions to prove yourself.

I personally passed my first time with 75 qs this past week and in all reality I am soo grateful for studying my butt off for the past week before hand because studying is way less stressful than sitting there for several more hours trying to prove your knowledge and safety.

I had 75 questions for my test as well. To save time, I will condense the story.

A. One of our nursing instructors told us to look up our names in the state board website (PA) to get quick and free results. If we had a license issued to our names in the website, we passed. My name has not shown up; a fellow nursing student's name has. Has anyone else heard of this trick?

B. I had cargo shorts on for the test. This may not seem important, but I, and the proctor guy, found the directions to the testing site that were in one of my pockets during the test. The testing center said it shouldn't be a big deal, but took copies of the paper and said they would report it.

I feel like I must have failed if my name hasn't shown up on the state board registry (it has been a week since I took the test and my fellow student found his name in two days). Is it possible that I passed and my case is under review or something? Would I ever find out about it? I did well in nursing school; I would like to think I wouldn't fail that quickly. Thanks all!

The paper is probably holding it back an extra several days. did you do the pearson trick?

Thanks, Angie, I just found out about the Pearson trick. I couldn't register again.

I took my LPN NCLEX in VA. in 2008. The computer shut off at 75 questions. I thought for sure I'd failed, but I passed!
