Generally, you are expected to go out and find a person to interview in person- not post your homework on an anonymous internet site where the person answering you could be a truck driver or a 12 year old. There are 3.3 million RNs in the United States, approximately 10% of them are men. You'll find one if you just start looking.
My professor is letting me do it via online and I have a 2 year old daughter and I can't just go out and find a ale nurse to interview.

Sure you can. Call the hospital staff development nurse, the local school nurses, the public health department, or the local Red Cross. Bring her along. She can have snack while you have coffee with him. Tell your professor you decided to do it that way because you weren't sure you were finding a real nurse otherwise. She will be impressed by your budding professionalism....this is a GOOD THING.

1) That all male nurses are gay.
2) The only time I'm treated differently is when my female counterparts expect me to do most if not all of the patient lifting. That's it.
3) I am assuming you mean colleges. No to that. Some patients will inquire if I am a doctor to which I say, "Just a nurse." and smile.
4) Making a difference; seeing your patient's health (hopefully) progress. Negatives are dealing with frequent fliers who can't and won't change.
5) Less than a year.
6) Work hard in nursing school. GPA means absolutely nothing unless you are for sure wanting to go to graduate school.

I am not sure why you feel that this topic is worthy of an essay, but here are my answers:
I have no idea how the media depicts nursing or male nurses and I don't really care. It doesn't effect my life.
I am a nurse, not a male nurse. My female coworkers are called "nurses", not female nurses. We are treated the same.
I think you meant "colleagues". It is 2016 (almost 2017). I have never been treated differently by my coworkers, management, doctors, or patients' families.
I enjoy my job, respect from the doctors that I work with, and a nice paycheck. The negatives are perpetuation of the misconception from pre-nursing students that males in nursing is a big controversy in that either we are treated special and hospitals and nursing schools scoop us up to fill a "male nurse" quota or we are treated like we don't belong in nursing and everyone thinks that all male nurses are homosexuals.

Go into nursing expecting to be treated the same as your female classmates.
You didn't state your name. Also in my opinion this topic is worthy of an essay and if it weren't then my professor would have asked me to choose a different topic. Its just an essay and I am in no way judging nurses of any gender. My topic for my essay is about nurses who are male, so that's why I stated I needed a male nurse to answer the questions and not any nurse. Also there are people who still get judged for their gender in all kinds of occupations. Although it is about to be 2017, does not mean that judgemental people are not in the world. Thank you for answering the questions I asked truthfully.

You didn't state your name.
There's likely a reason for that. AN, by allowing users to choose a username, provides some level of anonymity. Giving you a name would completely negate that. If you wish to be given names, then you need to get out there pounding the pavement and talking to nurses in person.

You will be hard pressed to find someone on here who will disclose that kind of information. If you want/need it, once again, interview a nurse in person. I don't think your professor would be to happy if you turned in an essay & when you quote someone it says "GuyInBabyLand" or whatever their screen name is.
