Question re ILLINOIS APP pls help

Published

Hello! I am a registered nurse from the Phils. I am a new member here. And checked some posts from the philippines looking for topics that would answer my problem.

Anyway, I am a Registered Nurse from the Phils and plan to apply in Illinois.

they reqiure >CES >TOEFL >NCLEX-RN

My question is: If I submit an application, do I need to pass TOEFL exam first before they will allow me to be eligible for NCLEX-RN?

Or can I take NCLEX-RN exam first, and then take the TOEFL exam later??

Hope you get my point. Really need your help guys.

If you have threads pertaining to this topic wouldlove to read about it.

Thanks! God bless!

They need a passing toefl score before making you eligible to take the nclex.

As stated by the office of the Gov of Illinois, theres no need for TOEFL if you can submit verification of completion of nursing in English. How can this requirement be complied with? It's only thru CES coming from CGFNS. The report will have to confirm that the nursing program you took was done in English.

hi! i just recently got my eligibility from Illinois Board of Nursing. You definitely need your passing TOEFL scores before you can get eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN. :) Good luck!

Thanks guys for the much needed info... I think I really need to reconsider other options like Vermont... I've heard application only takes 3 mos...haaay! quite confused:o

Again thanks so much guys... really appreciate it.

Any coursework completed in the Philippines in English still requires the TOEFL exam for Illinois, if you notice the English is not waived for immigration either.

read this http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/cgfns_02.pdf

very carefully!

the ces report and the toefl applies to all internationally educated nurses including those applying by

endorsement, u.s. citizens and visa holders.

another one from http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/rn-ex.pdf

additionally, if your first language is not english, you shall be required to

submit certification of passage of the test of english as a foreign language

(toefl). the minimum passing score on the paper-based test is 560. the

minimum passing score on the computer-based test is 220. the minimum

passing score on the internet-based test is 83.

toefl scores previously considered as "passing" scores will be accepted

for a period of two years from the date of passage.

*if you dont submit a certification of passage of toefl, it will cause a delay on your application... hope it helps...

"if your credentials evaluation report indicates the program was conducted in english, we will accept that"

that's exactly the reply of idfpr re my inquiry abt toefl requirement. i do my research first before posting anything here. besides, i dont't think the gov will issue something and then do another.
