Question RE: Excelsior NC Exams

Published

Hey,

I have read where students were able to do thier NC exams, like one a month. . .how is that possible?

Do you read everything that is required in the study guides?

I second you on your statement Laura. I took one exam about every 4-6 weeks on average. A few tests took longer as I was also enrolled in courses at my local community college. I have also been studying pretty much daily for the past 4 months in prep for the CPNE. I attended a workshop by EC and can tell you first hand some of the students attending the workshop were there because they had failed the CPNE...and it was definately from lack of prep time and not knowing the CE. Don't cut yourself short on time for this one--I am using all of my wait time to my benefit and actually learning a lot!!! Good luck!!!

Laura--thanks for the files you sent awhile back...the care planning ones have really helped me with the evaluation phases!

No problem, Kim! When is your CPNE date?

How wonderful that you are feeling so optomistic about this. How many NC exams have you taken so far?

I've taken one...if I can take the rest and get through them the first time as fast as I'm bragging I can will you give me $100? :specs:

I think Chris told us she finished 7 semesters in a few months...do you think she should go back through and study the material more slowly, too, or are you just knocking me down a few pegs where I belong? :balloons:

Don't see that that is anybody's business, but since you opened the door.

I had no problem getting A's on the exams because I worked like a dog to learn the material. Then I passed the NCLEX the first day I was eligible to take it, almost 5 months after my last academic exam, which I think says a little something about retention.

Maybe you have a long successful academic track record like I do, and you're just joking?

Go as fast as you want. If you don't retain, that's your own business. Maybe you will actually learn the material. Obviously some people can, maybe you are one of us.

Who are you asking?

Go right ahead and do it your way. Won't give you $100 though...not going to reward someone for screwing themselves.

This isn't a contest. Just know you were warned about the pitfalls of the "fast & easy" mindset before it hits you in the backside. Good luck to you.

Where'd you get this *easy* business? I'm working hard for what I'm getting. I study several hours every night. As Chris said, if you can do it they don't care how fast you knock them off, they are just concerned you know the material. Which I hope I can prove I do.

As for *fast* I don't know where you got that either. I've been studying in one form or another since I graduated LPN school four years ago. I have all my prerequisites done except A&P plus a lot of extras that aren't required, like clinical nutrition from the university here....fast?

Hey Chris, they think people who know what they are doing and can finish quickly are screwing themselves. Maybe someone is just jealous?

When I did the EC program, I took one exam every week - and some weeks, I took two on the same day. It worked for me!

No, I never read any of the "required" texts - had most of the knowledge from prior to enrolling at EC and simply did review of topics.

Actually, I've gotten an awful lot of sincere support and genuine friendship from spazzy_nurse and lgflamini. Those two probably more than anyone else gave me the encouragement and direction I needed when I was an EC student. Two finer people you will be hard pressed to find....

I have to tell you in all honesty, I don't believe either of them has a jealous bone in their bodies, and anything they post and/or share is meant as an offer of support and help.

But then, maybe you are just kidding about the jealous thing..... :p

Uhhh...I'm done with the program. Why would I be jealous?

Thanks for the support, Chris.
