question about pt rooming assignments

I'm reading up on infection control, and I'm just wondering really..I have yet to take the NCLEX, what can they possibly ask 30-40 times about infection control?? :madface: I was reading that pts in droplet and contact isolation can be roomed together as long as they have the same disease. On the NCLEX, they give you a list of pts with diseases I assume, and they ask who can room with who? Wouldn't there only be one combination to that, or is there more to the question than that? I'm worried because I don't know what to expect.

I had questions about what ppe you would wear in rooms with certain diseases like tb or aids....also what pts should room together and a few questions about positive and negative pressure ventilation in rooms

I got the same type of questions. What to wear, who can room together, what precautions to take during transport, and the whole negative pressure thing too.

How do you determine who can room together? I still thought only people with the same disorder(TB), can room together. Or can you mix certain pts with different infections??

The CDC has a great site for this.....standard, droplet, contact, airborne precautions. U also have to consider those pts whom r immunosuppressed already and those that have been on prescribed Tx, ie, when it is safe to place those with other pts. Look for the distractors in the question.

This is the one that cause my failure i guess. I wish they have a book on this so called INFECTION CONTROL. Its so damn hard and confusing with all this type of diseases. They have it on SATA too not only multiple choice..Is there a CDC book for this..? Please

that's what I'm wondering though, how do I determine who can be with whom if they give me a list of 6 people all with something different and nasty sounding?
