Hello to all, my name is Sonia and I am taking pre-req in hopes of being accepted into TWU next year. I was wondering if it were "safe" to take A&P and chemistry in the same semester????? Thanks for the responses, have a great day!!:)

I tried it, but it was too much. So, dropped the A&P until the next quarter while I did the chemistry with a couple other classes. Some probably can do them together, but I chose not to since I had more than I could handle on my plate other than school at that time. :)

I took A and P and Microbiology (back to back no less) in the same semester and got A's on both. IT WAS NOT EASY but I did not want to waste time. I was in a hurry to finish all my pre-req's for nursing and they were among the last of 4 classes I had to do..... needless to say, it was an ugly semester.
Just depends, how much time do you have to devote to studying and lab work? Cause I will tell you, there is a LOT of time involved in studying and doing the labs . Ask your professors how much time each might involve so you get a clearer picture. IT will take lots of time, if I am right. BUT YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Good luck.

I took chemistry first since (in my humble opinion) the hardest stuff of AP was the chemical reactions in the body. The sodium-potassium pump still gets me somedays. Also the method that you are taking the course depends as well. I took a "review of Micro, AP and General and Organic Chem" online. The instructor sucked hardcore, the class sucked, review my butt! So my advice is that you learn or find out what your learning style is before going to school. It will help so much. As for me, a kinesthetic learner, online isn't the greatest method for me. Good luck to you.

I would have to say no, do not take A&P and Chemistry in the same semester, unless of course you are a masochist! Ha-ha!
I know for me, I had enough probs with chem as it is. I studied for hours on end and still only managed to pull C's.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

In my humble opinion, it would be a mistake to take chemistry and A&P in the same semester. It would just be too demanding. I always found the greatest success in balancing my sciences with other less demanding subjects. Good luck!

I think you know yourself the best and what you can and cannot handle. For me I loved Chemistry. I had an amazing teacher who made it fun. I would have no problem taking two sciences together. You have to know your own limits. If you truly enjoy it and don't mind putting the hours into it,then go for it. I have known many to take two and one crazy nut to do three science courses at once...egads.
Did anyone else who took A & P think the time spent on the kidney was forever and forever and forever??? I thought we'd never finish talking about the kidney! Then, that darn nervous system! I-yi-yi-yi-yi!!! enough to make my nerves get all tied in a pickle! :chuckle
YES YES YES renee...that and the endrocrine system and ACID/BASE balances UGHHHHHHHHHHH EWWWWWWWWWWW it was the toughest. I thought I would go cwaaaaaaaazy.

I took Chemistry & A&P in the same semester. I like chemistry, but the teacher was a pain in the rear. A&P was boring, due to the professor.
I took Microbiology with A&P the next semster. tough. very tough. Got A's in both, though.
I don't miss those days...so why am I considering grad school?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm mad, terribly mad!

I took organic chemistry and the second half of A&P in one semester, it was hard but, doable. Good luck to you!
