Question for Phils applicant re: Vermont

Hello again,

I need help please. I will be sending my application to Vermont next week and I just want to make sure that I wont miss anything.

1. There is a question there regarding the Date issued of our PRC license card, is it the one below our date of birth OR is it the registration date?

2. Is it ok if the verification document from my school will arrive ahead of my application form?

Thank you for your help.

One word: RETROGRESSION. You are probably looking of at least 5 years wait before you can come to the U.S.

And be prepared to be very, very lonely! The culture shock you will encounter in Vermont will test any adventurous Filipino. Vermont is Yankee country. You are from the Philippines, do you know what that means? Google it. The state is more than 95% white. You'll meet very few of your countrymen in Vermont. Unlike here in California, home to hundreds of thousands of Filipino-Americans, people will probably be staring at you while you walk in the streets of Vermont (I'm not kidding, it happened to me before). I've been here in the U.S. for a little over 30 years and I admit I have never been to Vermont, but I have been to other parts of New England where the state of Vermont is located. I'm telling you, I was so glad when I got back to California where there is cultural and racial diversity. Don't get me wrong. New England is beautiful and the people are friendly, but it is not home for this Filipino-American.

I remember a story featured several years ago in one of the major U.S. news network about the culture and race in New England. Some parts of the region are close to 100% white. Non-whites are still a rarity in that part of the U.S. A friend of mine started her life in the U.S. in a U.S. Navy base in Groton, Connecticut where her brother was stationed. She said she could not stand the loneliness there and she left New England as fast as she could. She has been living (and working as an RN here) in California for over 20 years. Ironically, she married a white man. Her husband and I have been friends ever since they got married.

Another white RN I know left California and moved to Denver, Colorado. To make a long story short, she and her family came back to the SF Bay Area because they missed the multi-cultural society of the Bay Area. She said Denver was "too boring".

Hey, California is considered a paradise!

I asked my wife to read my previous reply and she said that Vermont can be your "stepping-stone" in the U.S.

I agree with her, just be sure to prepare yourself for the culture shock, and the very long wait before a U.S. visa can be acquired by you.

I advice you to read a lot about New England states and particularly about Vermont. And if i were you I would take additional English grammar and speech lessons. I think these will make your assimilation to American society that much easier. Unless you are a native English speaker, and I presume you are not, then following my advice will help you tremendously in your professional and personal growth.

Hi, I just need to share this info. According to the PRC ( I asked 6 people from the PRC and they gave me the same answer) the date that a license was issued is also the date of registration. The date below one's birthday is the date when the ID was made.

I made the mistake in thinking that the date below my birthday is the date when my license was issued. So I had to correct the info with regards to my VisaScreen application. So it created a bit of a hassle on my part.

Hope this info helps.

Foreign nurses in general use VT for getting a US licensure since they do not need a US SSN to grant a license and they also do their own transcript evaluation and therefore do not have to go through CGFNS.

They then try and endorse to another State via VT afterwards and they don't necessarily have to work in VT to do that nor even have to be physically be in the US for that matter.

Just to add to this post and to complete the answer to the original post.

One form getting ahead of the other does not matter. They will actually wait for both to be able to start. Your application form contains the payment and your biographics while the one your School sends contains you transcripts. They can't do anything w/o the other.

Thank you very much for all your replies and for clearing my confusions. You have been very helpful.

Just one last question, I asked my bank(BPI) if they have U.S. affiliation and they told me that they are affiliated to Citibank NY, so it means I can use the bankdraft from BPI as my form of payment? I have read somewhere that someone here also use PNB, I wonder if anyone here has use the BPI bankdraft?

Again, thank you in advance for any advice you can give. I have also emailed Vermont BON regarding some of my queries(not posted here) and they are very prompt in replying to me. I hope everything will go well with my application, and yes I am very aware with the ongoing retrogression.

God bless all.

Most major banks in PH has bank affiliations with them. There should be no problems with using any bank drafts from your bank.

Since your original query has already been answered, any succeeding queries not directly related to being in PH should be posted in the Int;l forum. Thanks.
