Question (for those who have had nutrition)

This fall, I am taking:

A & P 1

Chemistry

Nutrition

I have been considering dropping nutrition, not because of my load but, because I can get my scholarship to pay for it if I take it next semester. I want to know peoples advice on this: should I take Nutrition now and get it out of the way or should I add it to next semester, which will be:

Micro

A & P 2

Keep in mind I have absolutely no high school chemistry. I heard that nutrition involves this a little bit. Anyone got any advice? Right now I am leaning on dropping the class.

As far as your spring semester taking a/p 2 and micro- those are both intense classes. ( both will have so much for you to memorize!!). I was like you with no past chemistry. If you did ok in algebra, then you should do ok in chemistry. I really liked nutrition and didn't find it to be challenging at all! It was so interesting to me, it was really a fun class for once. It's totally up to you. If you get a scholarship next semester then maybe you should take it then. But, remember that the other classes will be more time consuming than this semesters classes.

I have taken a Nutrition course it wasn't a requirement but I took it just in case I might want to transfer to another college where it might be a requirement.

I had A&P 1 and 2, chemistry, and micro before taking this course.

I didn't plan to take Nutrition last, it just happened to go that way.

So why am I telling you all this?....

most of the topics that were covered in Nutrition were topics covered in A&P1 and 2, some chemistry, but not to much attention on microbiology. The topics were generally, it wasn't too detailed.

I believe I did well in it because of my previous knowledge from the other courses.

I think chemistry and A&P1 is enough work for one semester.

So don't take Nutrition for the first semester, take it for the second one.

Either way that is a full load. I guess I would say to wait and take it the second semester.

If that's a full load, I'm doomed with 15 hours.

A&P I, Human Growth and Dev, Nutrition, Sociology, and Algebra. But I'm not working, living off savings and loans.

I just finished my nutrition class and it wasn't too bad. I took it online and did well. I had already had A&P and Chemistry, but I don't remember those being required in any major detail in my nutrition class.

If it were me, I would take it now. Keep in mind that's somewhat biased though, because I have not yet had micro. :p From everything I've heard, micro is intensive because of the amount you have to memorize. Given that, I wouldn't personally want to add another class to A&P2 and Microbiology if I could help it.

If you're really nervous about it, you can stop and ask yourself which will make you more nervous - taking it now and getting it over with despite not having chem or A&P, or waiting until next semester. Some would prefer to just knock it out and some would prefer to make sure to have those classes first. It's entirely up to you, but as long as you stay on top of things, I think you'll do fine either way. :)

I also took nutrition online over this summer and found it to be very, very easy. Of course, I am comparing that to nursing classes! ;) Chem "might" help you a bit in nutrition. There is a section on body chem and so forth. Chem and A&P will take up most of your time this semester, as will Micro and A&P next sem. It looks like you will be ok either way! Good luck!

I agree with frmrnicumom I wouldn't add another course to micro and A&P if i could avoid it. I felt nutrition was pretty easy actually and I got an A in it. It was just mainly reading and memorizing stuff ya have been hearing all your life IE food pyramid and what vitamins do what

I took nutrition the same semester as A&P II & Micro and did fine, alot of the nutrition in the begining was a review of A&P I so it worked out great

save your money, studying for any class during any semester is still studying so why not use the scholarship money if it is available to you. easy or difficult subjects are different from one student to another and who the instructor is is different from one to another...the only predictable out come here is who pays the tab, it's a no brainer:rolleyes:

I am pretty decided that I am going to drop nutrition and take it in the winter. The thing that pushed me over the edge was having to shell out almost $500 for my Chem and A & P books... I simply can not afford another book, lol.

I think that both semesters are equally hard and it won't matter if I take nutrition now or later.
