Question about nursing school

Published

Has anyone ever worked 3 days a week and survived nursing school?

I want to know the same thing, I'm also curious about how many classes can I/should I take if working almost full-time.

Specializes in Emergency Room, CEN, TCRN.

I work at least 3 days a week on the NOC shift. The VA I work at is slow enough to where I can get my reading and some assignments done in peace without my kids jumping on me.

Yes. It can be done.

I worked full-time, Monday-Friday and attended nursing school two nights a week, with clinical time scheduled either during a week night, or on the weekend.

In addition, after class and clinical time I took care of my horse (mucking stall seven days a week, grooming and setting feed).

Some days were 14 or 15 hours with four to five hours of sleep, but I did it.

Just be aware that you will need to budget your time very carefully and be willing to spend all available free time studying. I graduated in May 2016, but for two years, I rarely saw friends or socialized.

Keep your eye on the prize and you'll get through it!
