Question for nurses who passed NCLEX using Saunders!

Published

Hi! I Take my NCLEX Dec 29th, and I'm using Saunders to study. I am consistently getting 70% of the questions right on the quiz and assessment CD practice questions and I am wondering how I figure out what that means in terms of passing. What percentage were other people getting right in Saunders before passing (or failing) the NCLEX? I'm trying to get an idea of how close or far away I am from an acceptable passing level because I have NO clue what 70% of Saunders questions means in terms of passing NCLEX... Thank you! I really appreciate any help or insight you might be able to give me!

Don't sweat the numbers! As long as you understand the rationals, you will do fine on the NCLEX. I used Saunders and my personal opinion is that it is harder than any other NCLEX RN review I've used. I passed with 75 questions. So will you!!

I've heard about Suzanne's Plan but have not actually read it. It's no longer posted here. What you can do is read the latest Saunders NCLEX-RN Review book and practice on its CD. It will help you pass the test. That was what I did. The key is in you.

"People are living longer and sometimes dying harder from extended illness and chronic disease. People are waiting longer to seek medical care and winding up in the emergency department much sicker. Many ignore symptoms until its too late; others, lots of them, just can't afford healthcare.

All of which means new nurses are seeing sicker patients than ever before, which naturally begs the question: Is the test all nursing program grads must pass to earn a license to work in the U.S. tough enough?

It's a question the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN) continuously asks and, in response, routinely stiffens the passing standard for the NCLEX-RN exam, which it did again Dec. 10. "

im studying with saunders...i have only a month to review before my att expires. took the exam last june, reviewed for only 2 weeks and i was using incredibly easy (failed so bad of course with just 1 above passing ). to top it all off...i graduated 5 years ago, have a son with adhd and a 20 month old baby girl, single mom to boot. i am always at 60-70% with saunders....i am so scared to retake again...

Not a problem, if I can help- just drop me a message ("do unto others as you would want them to do to you!") My problem with the NCLEX is the fear of the unknown: it's just so much information and so little time. I don't want to leave any stone unturned. That's why I ask question regarding the test

OMG! I am taking it on the 19th and I feel EXACTLY the same way!:bowingpur

absolutely! i am doing more than just my best to pass this exam. i'm doing it most especially for my son...if i get to become a nurse, then i could definitely afford better psychiatric care and not just rely on medication. there are just days that the fear becomes so overwhelming and the odds seem to be against me. but thank you so much for your support!

In my experience you need to keep testing on the same material and do associated reading until you get a consistent 85 percent .

Scaredso much:

You need to take a step back and relax. I am a mother of 2, divorced- trust we all know! (We got your back, if you want to vent: use us as a sounding board) but; when your baby's down & a sleep open your books, worry about cleaning do that later after you pass. Trust me, I am scared as hell: but; this is not just for me but- for my family... Don't keep studying the material that you already know: review the your weakest area's. Study Prioritization, Delegation good book by Linda Lacharity- helped me, then also use Saunders, review your labs - and keep doing questions.
