Question for nurses who passed NCLEX using Saunders!

Published

Hi! I Take my NCLEX Dec 29th, and I'm using Saunders to study. I am consistently getting 70% of the questions right on the quiz and assessment CD practice questions and I am wondering how I figure out what that means in terms of passing. What percentage were other people getting right in Saunders before passing (or failing) the NCLEX? I'm trying to get an idea of how close or far away I am from an acceptable passing level because I have NO clue what 70% of Saunders questions means in terms of passing NCLEX... Thank you! I really appreciate any help or insight you might be able to give me!

I'm getting anywhere from 70-80% on practice tests using saunder's & i scored a 940 on the hessi right after i graduated almost 2 months ago. When i reviewed passing scores for the hessi it said anywhere from a 850 to 900 was good for the nclex. I take the nclex exam in 3 days, is there anyone with scores similar to mine who passed the nclex? Thanks.... Not really sure what to think!

Hi Daisykip, I passed the Nclex and I was only making around the 60-70% range, the key is read the rationale for the right and wrong answers so you can understand why are you answering the way you are. That's what helped me, Good Luck hope you pass!

I used Saunders and I didn't get more than 70%, sometimes not that high, on practice tests. I passed the NCLEX on the first try with 76 questions.

how did you study ? thanks!!

Saunders is good for content, but I would also do other questions from other sources. I found many of the Saunders questions very basic level (was getting 70-80s). This sort of gave me a false sense of security and I did not pass the first time around. I was also doing ATI, and scored high on their predictor test (92% chance of passing).

What really helped me pass my second time was varying my question sources. I used Kaplan, Uword, and LaCharity for questions and my scores sucked initially (30-50s) but I kept at it and it eventually went up (70s). I think it was because they had more SATA questions as wll as high level questions that I found Saunders and ATI lacked.

I think practicing helps alot. Good luck on your test.

What was your score in LaCharity? I am consistent 50% and its so depressing[emoji20]

I started with 40s and felt so dumb. I evetually worked my way up to 65. I felt LaCharity had difficult questions, but I think it help me with my prioritization questions on the NCLEX.

Yes for me LaCharity questions are very hard compared to Saunders. Did u finish LaCharity?

I read through the first part of the books and did some of the questions on the second part (did a few in each subject). I mostly focused on the website questions (did about 300 questions).
