For those who are a medical assistant or patient care assistant and work in a hospital setting. What is your typical patient volume?? Do you like the hospital setting?? What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it?
My place of employment, a specialty hospital, hires MAs and utilizes them as unit secretaries. This essentially means they perform no patient care.
The unit secretaries answer phones, schedule appointments, make transportation arrangements, admit and discharge patients, put charts together, and are responsible for mainly clerical front office duties.

Hmm. That kind of stinks. I love patient interaction so it seems like outpatient is better

Hi!! I am also a Medical Assistant and work in a large hospital organization. I work in an outpatient setting for Pediatrics but I also pick up extra shifts in the hospital as a Tech or Unit Secretary. It depends where you go if they will hire you in a hospital setting as a Tech or Secretary. Best of luck to you!
