Just started my application to Queens University in NC. Waiting to hear whether I got accepted to the university before I can submit my ABSN application. Applications are not due until February, but wanted to go ahead and get a head start. Anyone else applying to start in May?
Not sure if anyone else has started on the CastleBranch requirements. Is anyone else having trouble with the CareMobile Part 1 module on the Carolina Health Systems website? It's under the Carolina Healthcare Modules requirement on CastleBranch. When I open the lesson, the PowerPoint is extremely tiny. So tiny I can't make out anything on it. I've configured my computer settings. I haven't had trouble with any other module, that is why I was concerned. Is it just me?
Hey theia55! I did get into the ABSN program at Queens, but wanted to let you know a few things that I have heard. I also wanted to tell you that yesterday I actually decided to switch to the traditional program, so that means a spot opened up in the accelerated program! Hopefully you hear something soon. When I was on campus yesterday, an admissions counselor also told me that another person had asked about switching from the ABSN route to the traditional, so that will hopefully clear another spot. I'm thinking they will start pulling from the waitlist soon. Have you heard anything yet? I have also heard that students who get waitlisted have a very good probability of getting into the traditional program! So your chances are looking good, and I wish the very best for you!
Hi SN275,
Congratulations on your acceptance to the ABSN program!
I haven't heard anything just yet.
I also put that I am interested in the traditional program as well if not accepted into the ABSN program.
I'm thinking that I should know by early April if I get in or not.
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Theis55,
I know someone else who applied and got waitlisted, and she has yet to hear anything as well. I have heard that if you are waitlisted you have the option of being considering for the traditional program. Did you decide to be considered for that program? I would say if you do not end up getting into the ABSN option, you have a very good shot at the traditional program. I actually decided to switch into the traditional program after being accepted into the ABSN program for several reasons. Keep me updated because there is a chance we will be together in the fall if you decide to go the traditional route, but best of luck on getting into the ABSN option!

The bookstore says the total cost for scrubs for lab, books, and supplies our first semester will be around $1000. I've rented books on Amazon in the past and it is almost always less expensive, so I will probably price compare them with the bookstore. Also for most Amazon book rentals, you have the option of buying out the book at the end of the semester if you decide you'd like to keep it. Just FYI!
