Just started my application to Queens University in NC. Waiting to hear whether I got accepted to the university before I can submit my ABSN application. Applications are not due until February, but wanted to go ahead and get a head start. Anyone else applying to start in May?
Queens is my top choice, I like the location and the length of the program (and start date). Also, my boyfriend just got hired with Virginia Beach PD so Charlotte is a lot closer than Ohio or Michigan--we already do long distance so I figure another year of that before I possibly move there would be alright. Stony Brook told me my clinicals could be anywhere on Long Island--a possible two hour commute. I wasn't down for that, LOL especially when they told me a lot of clinicals are overnights.
hlw712, thanks for the update! Just checked my portal and I was accepted as well. Not sure if I will keep my seat since Queens isn't my top choice. Unfortunately, I won't hear from my top choice until 3/10 or after, and the deadline to respond to Queens is 3/2 so we will see :) Congrats by the way!
Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted so far! If you're planning on taking out loans (which let's be honest, the program is pretty pricey so most of us will), you'll definitely want to go ahead and at least reach out to the financial aid office before mid-April. Some scholarships and federal programs like the FELS have deadlines in March and early April, not to mention the office is super helpful with mapping out what you can expect to get from federal loans vs private. Since May is right around the corner I just felt a little more comfortable talking to financial aid early which turned out to be a good decision - hope that helps!
Hi CharlotteNC16! Thanks for all the helpful hints! I submitted an FELS application this morning. I didn't realize the deadline is tomorrow. I requested my transcripts be sent to NCSEAA electronically, so hopefully they will get them by the end of the business day today... fingers crossed. I was doing some more research on federal loan forgiveness program. Are there any other good ones that you know of that are worth applying for? I sent an email to the Queens Financial Aid office as well and asked.

kayleen.alyssa17, good luck with everything! With those stats I am sure you will get a seat in the nursing program at Queens! Congrats on your acceptances! Which school is your top choice?
