Wow after 9 years and 1336 posts they closed our thread because it was too long.
The original thread and all the helpful posts can be found here:
https://allnurses.com/international-nursing/puerto-rico-school-28678.html
There are 134 pages in that thread but the last 130 pages were from 2010 and beyond and there is a ton of helpful info in there. Hopefully the current students will continue this thread as I graduate this month. Please try to read that thread at least a little bit before posting your questions here as it is very likely your question has been asked and answered on the other thread more than once.
Good luck on whatever path you choose!
Hi Quik248You mentioned needing a GPA of 2.5. I thought it used to be 2.0 or higher? Do you know if they changed this requirement, and if so, how strict have they been on this?
Perhaps I'm remembering incorrectly too...
Thanks..
Yes they did change this. I had a friend that had a really bad GPA from her first Bachelors. She applied the exact year they changed it which was in 2012 I believe. She had like a 2.40 GPA and they did not let her in. That is after she already started the process when the GPA was 2.0 and above.
They were getting so many applicants they decided by upping the GPA a tad it would cut out some people. You figure that most second Bachelor degree programs you must have a 3.0 or higher so 2.5 is still low.
Hi Quik and ChanelCinq,
Thanks for the responses..I thought that GPA had been changed, but couldn't remember.
That is rough for your friend.. especially after she already started the process.
I guess I understand their reasoning for upping the GPA requirement though if they are getting too many applicants.
I got accepted last year but couldn't attend, so I will go back this year and re-apply and hopefully start in August..
Thanks for all your help
I plan to visit in April, move in late June/July and start the ADN in August, my plans are to complete the program in 1 year.dzcafe I start taking online classes in Feb, the general courses. I'll be in the Island only for 2 years so I'm doing the associates and I'll do my BSN online later on. I should be in PR June or July. What are your plans?
Thank you all for the information provided.. I will be submitting my application tomorrow... but I have a question... I have my lpn license but also have not so great gpa transcripts from about 7 years ago... with some classes including math english micro chem among others.. will these transcripts bring my lpn transcripts gpa down? Or will they just take my last gpa from lpn... thanks in advance ... will be posting alot very soon... hoping to start in august
I'm not sure how they calculate the gpa.. but submit whatever you think would help.

Hello flakiz, unfortunately the LPN course won't be accredited here in la inter. I am also and LPN and they didn't give credit for any of my classes because the LPN is only a diploma not an actual academic degree. Even your science classes, such as chemistry, anatomy, micro won transfer either. The only that you might get credit for are general education courses: English, math, history, politics and others.
Good luck !

Not all states see PR as international but those applying for FL do. Just call the states BON and ask
