  1. Well, in my area it is ALL about the academics. They'll choose an unstable individual w/ a 4.0 over someone w/ a 3.0. I've seen it happen. Your last statement is getting old , hopefully intelligent nurses would have done some research on the nur...
  2. The funniest thing happened to me today...:)

I totally agree! To the OP, sounds like you're working with a real bunch of 'characters'! :chuckle You're so lucky, too many stories out there about mean docs. Best wishes with your job. :)

  4. NA's in the ED

Heres hoping you get the job!! You are soooo lucky, hospitals here won't hire NA's or even LPN's in the ER. I'm currently working in LTC, working on prereqs and hoping to get into the degree program very soon. Good luck! :)
  5. What can an RN do than an LPN can't?

Not here! If you are a licensed practical Nurse and would like to bridge into the BSN program, you can. You are placed in the 3rd semester of the BSN. In fact the LPN program here is a Diploma program and is two years. I've heard nurses say that ...
  6. I hadn't read through all the posts, but wanted to make a comment. Yes, it is true that we need more nurses. Maybe if colleges and universities lightened up a little on the prereqs, allowed more individuals in with a 3.0 instead of the mandatory 4....

it's funny. a friend of mine who just graduated with her rn and bsn told me alot of the nclex questions are critical thinking. the answer hits you if you read the question carefully. like another poster said, weed out the obvious wrong answers. i...

  13. "Just" a nurse? You can do so much better!

Great letter! As with people saying 'just a nurse, you are much smarter', it really really bugs me. I'm entering a program soon and must achieve a 3.5 GPA or greater to get in. You have to be just as smart as a doctor to be an RN, especially if you...
  14. What is nursing school like???

congrats girl! i'm crossing all digits for you and wishing you the best. :)
  15. Do i have a chance?

hi everyone, i'm a newbie here and i'm looking for some advice from lpns or rns. first a little about myself, i am a 32 yo stay at home mom to two great kids. i have worked as a na for the past 8 years (off and on) and really enjoy working in ltc...
  16. jennie, you are a good person. don't feel guilty. i can't speak for your mom, but imho i believe that your mom would not have wanted to 'live' on life support. i am sorry for your pain. you have my deepest sympathy. please stay strong. :icon_hug...
  17. my cousin was a rn for years and just finished her np program. she too is allowed to write scripts. in fact, i may be more inclined to trust a np over some md's...... :uhoh21:

  20. Last names on ID badges and retaliation by patients

At our small facility, on our badges and picture IDs, only our first name and title are printed.
  21. I don't understand this profession..

it is the same at the ltc facility where i work. i'm not an rn(yet), but a cna. there is always constant bickering, finger pointing and the attitudes; i could do without. i don't understand why. is it the stress of the job? employees bringing pe...
  22. No money for school, sorry it's long..

i really feel for your situation. even though i am a cna and working at a ltc facility i am still finding it financially tough to get by. my husband has a great job, but with 2 kids who are 2 and 7 we have hard times. mortgage, car pymts, you name...
  23. Do i have a chance?

thanks so much for the replies, i really do appreciate it. katiebell, i know that nursing math is quite basic, but it frustrates me to know that i have to complete and achieve over 65% in grade 12 math to get accepted. why do i have to know trig...
