Hi. I am wanting to start at DNI in August '13, but some of the reviews I have read has me a little worried. I went to the school's information session and was impressed with what I saw. I have also took my HESI (math and reading) and made an overall...
  2. I have heard a lot of people discourage becoming a LVN saying that the only jobs available for LVNs are in nursing homes. I'm not sure if its only in Texas, but I wouldn't mind working in a nursing home as long as I'm helping people. Is there somethi...

I am starting my LVN program in August at Dallas Nursing Institute, but after reading reviews about the school has gotten me pretty nervous. I don't have time to take the pre reqs required by community college or being on a waiting list but don't wan...
  4. Becoming a CNA

I initially decided to go to school to become a LVN but after thinking about it long and hard I decided that right now is not the best time to start school full time. I have been thinking about taking CNA course and test in the meanwhile so I can at ...
  5. Where do you want to work as an LPN?

I haven't started my program yet but I think I would want to work at a long term facility where I could build relationships with patients and getting to know them. Of course, once I begin my program I might change my mind
  6. Just want to share the endless opptunities of nursing!!

Congratulations.. I pushing to start a nursing program in August but have had a little trouble coming up with my application fee. I went ahead and took the entrance Hesi A2 and only missed 2 questions so I am guaranteed a spot even if the class is fu...
  7. What made you choose LPN/LVN?

I chose to become a LVN because it opens the door to becoming a RN. Obtaining your license is a challenge which is another thing that attracted me to becoming a LVN. I know only hard workers have the title :-)
  8. Lvn program:concorde Arlington,tx

Thank you. Yes there is a class starting in May but I'm having a baby in July and decided to wait until August. I know no program is 100% perfect and somebody will have an issue on how things are done no matter what. I'm just so excited to begin!
  9. Lvn program:concorde Arlington,tx

Hi Julie. Can you tell me about your experience at DNI? I'm looking to start in August but some of the reviews I've read has scared me LOL. Thank you.
  10. Whats wrong with working in a nursing home?

Thank you everybody so much with your contributions to my question. I am learning so much from you guys sharing you experiences. And i know that there is someone else out there who probably had been wondering the same thing. When nursing homes are so...
  11. Lvn program:concorde Arlington,tx

If you guys don't mind me asking, how much is the program. I'm in the Dallas area and I am trying to find which school offers the cheapest tuition. Also for the current Concorde student, where do your clinicals take place?
  12. Whats wrong with working in a nursing home?

WOW. If I do end up working at a nursing home, do you think there are ways to avoid some of the worse nursing homes?
  13. Whats wrong with working in a nursing home?

Thanks guys. I don't start my nursing program until August 2013 and won't start my clinicals until a few months in. Every nurse is different I suppose and prefer different work environments.
  14. Whats wrong with working in a nursing home?

Thank you for your perspective. I don't plan on being a LVN for too long just long enough to get my pre reqs for a RN program. Thank you.
  15. Becoming a LVN/Dallas, Texas

I did notice that when I researching the schools that all the reviews were poor. Thank you for input @The Commuter
  16. Becoming a LVN/Dallas, Texas

I will say I have had friends that completed school there and they didn't have any problems except for it was hard (which I would imagine every nursing program to be). I'm glad I'm not the only one either :-)
