  1. Hello, I'm a fairly new nurse(8 months with a license) and work in a nursing home. After a few weeks into my new job, I started to become depressed...it was a very slow progression. Eventually it...
  2. I'm in my second semester and I'm kinda confused about doing this set up, like the drip factor and all that. The instructor taught us, but I still don't get it. The paper I'm referring to study from...

Where are all of the "experienced nurses hiding?"

[ Yeah I think that a separate category or an area of discussion as "part" of the forum is a good idea for people with 10 plus years of experience. Perhaps the topic or area of discussion could be...

I really can't side with anyone here. The original poster of this thread is entitled to his/her opinion just as much as the "non nurses" are on giving thier opinions on whatever subject in whatever...

  6. There is a CNA on the unit who takes care of her mother in law, they even have the same last name? Isn't this illegal? If so how do I report it. I'm not usually a tattle tale but this girl is a big...

Why do many nurses look down on LTC?

I take much pride in being an LTC nurse. There is no other area of nursing that I'd rather work in. I really enjoy working with the elderly and there is no better feeling than going home after work...

The legalities of having a relative on your unit of employment?

Since it is not "illegal", I will not further press the issue. Thanks for the

The legalities of having a relative on your unit of employment?

I thought it was illegal, but no having her mother in law as a resident does not interfere with the proper care of the other patients. And the unit would go alot more smoother in terms of employee...

  13. Hello, I'm a new RN working at a LTC facility that I'm not happy at. I am currently calling around local nursing homes inquiring about jobs and am wondering what to say about the facility I am at and...

    The narc drawer...I'm so upset.

I never gave any indication that I was blaming anybody was I? I was just coming up with what COULD have happened, that doesn't mean that I'm going to actually say I think somebody stole from my cart...

    The narc drawer...I'm so upset.

No not the only one with access to the cart but I guess you could say that I was responsible for that particular shift in which it happened on...like when the oncoming nurse came on the count was off...

    The narc drawer...I'm so upset.

Thank you. None of us check the book, we just go by what the other nurse who was on that shift says and I or the oncoming nurse counts the actual meds. For all I know she could be a drug addict...

    advice on giving flu shot

Exactly, and she is old enough to make her own decisions, plus she was alert and oriented and answered yes twice. I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest, she is a fully grown 22 year old

Believe it or not I really can't stand some of the male nurses, a few of the one's I work with are flirts who are MARRIED, and yet still hit on the nurses...AND I constantly hear them make perverted...
