  1. I turned down a 50$/hour covid job. Not worth my life.
  2. Travelers are staying away from now.
  3. Full houses...some of our patients on non- covid floors are now testing positive for covid 19... got exposed , on a 14 day watch and they still have me working. So , that's it
  4. We are full to capacity here in Houston. It's hard to even get an open bed 50mile radius on league city at this time. It's bad.
  5. I'm starting the post masters fnp program with herzing in July as well. I just have two classes to take and then all I have left is clinicals. I should graduate August 2021 as well.
  6. I wouldnt blame any nurse for quitting for the safety of their friends and loved ones. The hospitals keep telling nurses not to wear surgical mask because of short supplies and not increase in pay to compensate for the risk and yet you expect nurses to risk their lives?
  7. how is the program so far?
  8. I'm about to apply to regis college for a post masters degree. How many credits will transfer and how is the program. I'm only interested in the adult- geriatric nurse practitioner program. Did you apply to regis?
  9. Dont take it personal. My friends and family have been avoiding me lately as well.
  10. Based your post , I am going to assume that you are very ambitious and want things quickly. You have to be very patient especially in working in critical settings. You cant acquire the needed knowledge in a short time. You mentioned that your going is to further advance your career, I am assuming as a provider or manager. Either way, due diligence and patient are two key factors needed here and it appears that you want it quicker than possible.
  11. I'm truly sorry to hear about your current predicament. It must be difficult coming to a place of work knowing fully well that you are suffering within but need the cash until you figure out your next move. Have you tried other forms/types of nursing? I mean non-clinical nursing jobs might be an option ( including working from home) as a case manager. A friend of mine currently works from home and makes close to 96k a year. I'm once again sorry to hear about your current situation . I just sincerely hope that you look into other alternatives as soon as possible as it breaks my heart reading your story.
  12. Be very careful of your so-called co-workers that send you friend request on social media. They will be the one to screen-shot your post and send to administration if you have a fall out. In my opinion, you can express your opinion on your own "private" facebook page with friend and family but once you start adding "friends" from work, then ....well, I wish you luck ( Start looking for a new job)
  13. You are right. The acuity is increasing but management keep putting the "efficiency" narrative. Its hard for me to believe that a nurse with a bsn cant get work for two years. Its earlier they are not willing to move or only want to work in the hospital setting
  14. The only incentive the govt understand is cash . Didnt you get the memo? In my opinion, a government that truly cares about the health of its citizens will make sure access to quality care is for all regardless of income or status. A healthy body, mind and soul is more productive to the society. But hey, its just my opinion.
  15. I recently left HCA and charge nurses take the same number of patient as the floor nurses.
  16. I once had a patient with a live cam in his room monitored by his parents from home. It was a young man in his early 40's in the nursing home I worked at more than 10 years ago. I'm glad I am transitioning out of bedside nursing soon
  17. The benefits are the only thing that kept them there in the first place. The VA system needs to be overhauled
  18. This is what happens when perceptions overrides reality. Too many tv shows, hospital adverts and **** market nurses as super human beings. The "back in my day" crowd have finally gutted the nursing space.
  19. Try a different floor. I'll suggest Acute Rehab or ortho.
  20. I agree. In addition, the overpriced healthcare system is also a major contributing factor.
