  1. Could a CNA teach a CNA program?

Is it Legal and possible for a CNA to teach a CNA program? If not, could a Acute CNA teach one? What are the minimum requirements for teaching a CNA program? I really would love to start a program in my area because there's only one program within 20...
  2. Best way to get a hospital job as CNA?

I don't mind working in nursing homes but I would really like to work in hospitals to gain clinical experience (which, I don't think nursing home experience counts as clinical) and to serve a variety of patients. I was wondering if there was anything...
  3. Are private LPN/LVN schools worth it?

I am interested in becoming a LPN before advancing my career because I have to pay for school myself and The school closest to me(and cheapest) is a private school. My original plan was to become CNA (so I gain experience and save up for a more expen...
  4. I just graduated my CNA state exam today (yay me!) and my goal is to work at a hospital/out patient clinic instead of a nursing home/assisted living(not that I wouldn't mind just preference). For those of you who got hospital jobs right away after pa...
  5. Know-it-all nursing students?

Has anybody had to deal with know-it-all pre-nursing students? I recently got hired for a local retail job and I started talking to this girl during first day work orientation about school and I found out she wanted to be a nurse and go into the same...
  6. right before i got my cna certification, my car broke down and it would cost more to fix than the car was worth and more than what i have. i want to start a cna job badly but i believe it would be too hard to get a job without a car (i rely on the bu...
  7. I was just browsing the local out patient center in my town for CNA positions and there's a per-diem position I am really interested in and I was wondering if the range of consideration would be wider than it would be for regular work? I am freshly c...
  8. When I go to turn in my resume who should I go to and should I get a letter of recommendation? I am interested in a pediatric per diem job at an out patient center and I have basically no experience (besides clinicals of coarse!) and I want to show I...
  9. What to do

You can't base all your ideas on one person and it would be best to look up some more facts on nursing for yourself. You can't be sort of sure with nursing you have to be 100 percent if you are pursuing it. ADNs aren't going away anytime soon, becaus...
  10. Crappy PreRequisite Grades...Trying to apply for ABSN

i am not sure of all the prereq.s of your program, but the best thing would be to talk to your counselor and see what she suggests grade wise. i feel blessed because my counselors gave me really good advice on fixing my grades and set me on the right...
  11. Crappy PreRequisite Grades...Trying to apply for ABSN

you should take your time and come back when you are ready. try taking some time off to focus and prioratize your work. try to relax as much as possible and take care of yourself (eat well, get enough sleep, take long baths) it will help you feel bet...
  12. Does anyone know anywhere hiring CNA'S with no experience in LV,NV

CPR and First aid are not the same as BLS for healthcare providers. CPR and first aid are nice, but certifications like AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, are all more vauble and looked at by hospitals/LTC than just CPR. Do you know anybody else in your class...
  13. That sounds like a very desirable combination! I am in the same boat right now and my plan is to get as many certifications I can. You could also try AHA BLS, PALS, ACLS, if you really feel the need to get more certifications and stand out. :tinkbll:...
  14. Does anyone know anywhere hiring CNA'S with no experience in LV,NV

Do you just have your CNA certification? The last post I read about CNAs said a lot of them have their AHA BLS and most of them couldn't find jobs before hand. There is alslo ACLS, PALS, NRP, but AHA BLS is the most important for finding a job.
  15. Any CNA's who got hired in a hospital with no experience?

I am in the same boat right now and I have my eye on a job. The approach I am going to try is to get as many certifications as possible (AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP) and just show I am as interested as possible when I go for a job.:pntrghi:Good luck!
  16. For those CNAs who got hired straight into hospitals...

    Thank you!
  17. Does anyone know anywhere hiring CNA'S with no experience in LV,NV

You live in a big city? there should be tons of jobs there. Have you really exhausted every avenue there is? Have you tried online? Have you tried visiting every single place you applied to, talking to the Hiring manager/HR handing them your resume a...
  18. Does anyone know anywhere hiring CNA'S with no experience in LV,NV

Wow, even the agencies require experience? Have you listed your clinical experience? And when you say "In your area" about how far of a mile range are we talking? Have you applied to every place within 100 miles? Would you be willing to relocate?
  19. Does anyone know anywhere hiring CNA'S with no experience in LV,NV

Have you tried any nursing/staffing agencies? They might be able to help. Manpower is U.S. wide I am sure, if you can try to look up the one in your area. If worst comes to worst, angencies can atleast get you a temp job. I hope I have helped.
  20. Does anybody really care?

That reminds me of where I had my clinicals! The workers (mostly) never respected privacy and some of the CNAs were very rough even when the residents were crying of pain! It makes me sad to see that but what can you do? I just became certified (toda...
  21. Question About Abortion

". I worked in the NICU, where we received those infants who were born alive, and provided comfort care until they died." It's scary to think anyone would wait that long!
  22. I basically just started a job that will pay for my schooling almost in full for me but the problem is, I am about to graduate a CNA program and this other job I already have has nothing to do with nursing. The job I just started is part-time, so I w...
  23. Straight B student?

Ok, so I am a straight B student in pretty much all my college classes (I usually get A's all year long and do bad on the finals because I get nervous) will this effect me getting into a nursing program(ADN)? I am starting to become worried that I wo...

  25. I know that M.D.s could have their own practices and pretty much what that entails but what type of independant practice options are open for nurses? I always thought that if I became an NP one day I could open a practice of some sort but I wouldn't ...
