Is per diem work at an out patient center easier to get than full/part-time work?

I was just browsing the local out patient center in my town for CNA positions and there's a per-diem position I am really interested in and I was wondering if the range of consideration would be wider than it would be for regular work? I am freshly certified and about to get my AHA BLS certification soon and I know how competetive regular positions are and how tough it is to break into anything above LTC. I know I am aiming high for my first job application, but I figured it never hurts to try and if I end up getting a job somewhere else they will recognize my name from before and know that I am really trying for a job there. Also, since it's per diem maybe they will accept a canidate who is qualified just not with much experience. What do you think? Since I would be hired as-needed would it be easier to obtain that job? Maybe If I had a really good resume and went in person and introduced myself to the hiring manager? Thank you so much:nurse:

The instructor of my CNA class actually mentioned something to us about this very issue. The problem with per diem work for a new grad CNA is that they usually do not offer you any real orientation. I know this may not apply to every facility, but from what I understand that is how it goes with this type of position. They call you when they need someone, and they expect you to be able to jump in there and get the job done. I may be wrong, but this is what I've been told. Good luck!

I recently resigned my position in LTC and I've been working for a home health agency for a couple of weeks. I'm only getting approximately 20 hours per week or less which is not nearly enough, but they don't guarantee hours. This Monday I have an interview with an Adult Day Health Center for a PRN position. It's just basically filling in for CNA's who are taking vacations this summer, so again I this is not full-time work.....however its going to look good on a resume and this service is associated with the local hospital where I would really enjoy working if only I could get a foot in the door!!
