  1. I simply stated a fact that many times women give men the wrong impression. I personally know of at least three married women who wear less than nothing underneath their scrubs and when they bend over, everyone around them recieves an education. I have had female nurses slightly but ever so evidently pat me on the butt. I think many women want to create a "tease"atmosphere where they control how far it goes. And then when the heat gets hot, they want to stop. I am totally against what these doctors did to the OP. But I am also tired of the double standards that many women play these days. Many women do it as a power play. Anything to remove topp dog to get closer to their goal. Sexual harassment is horrific and I am clearly stating that women and men need to be aware fo their own actions before they start crying a bunch of BS.
  2. Drama queens. They lurk in every corner. Waiting to make your life a living hell. Always b-----ing about something. Always stirring up sh--. And those crocodile tears come flowing if something doesn't go her/his way. You know who you are. Come out and be set free. Drama queens no more. Peace out!
  3. I believe a nurse should wwear color-coded uniforms to distinguish RN, LPN, CNA, MD. Hell, you never know these days. Especially in ER.
  4. Either you are a real hottie that any man finds irresistable or you may have that unconciously flirting thing going on giving men the impression that you are interested. Let your conversation be work related only and cut out the small talk with those pervs and 90% of this should be eliminated.
  5. This is very hard to put into words without trying to offend anyone in particular. For those patients that have been confined to their bed/room for long periods of time, is there enough privacy given to them where they can 'release' their tensions in the form of masturbation? Are spouses/partners allowed to be intimate with the patient? I know this is a touchy subject, no pun intended. But sexuality is part of recovery as there is proven facts of the benefits of an orgasm. Please note, this thread is not intended to vulgarize this subject. Seriously. What is your opinion, if any, on this matter?
  6. I am a proud vegetarian of 8 years. Veggies rock!
  7. Were you the one that ran over the manager the other week?
  8. Great! At least there are a few educated people still left. The reason a vegetarian lifehood doesn't work for some people is because they still eat high carb foods and sugar laden sweets. To have complete victory one must take COMPLETE control. Eliminating Meat and dairy along with sweets and refined foods is the correct way to eat. Isn't it odd that God put Adam and Eve within the Garden of Eden and provided them with fruit and veggies as the first 'biblically' recorded death of an animal was after they 'sinned'. And that was when God killed the animal for clothing, not food. But for those who are atheist, here is another tool of reference for you.http://www.vivavegie.org/vvi/pdf/101.2001.pdf
  9. Definately go for the BSN. My instructor told me that in the upcoming years BSN will matter the most. As many industries are cutting back and eliminating altogether, there will be a surge of countless students hit the nursing market because of the opportunities that continue to exist. For those who go on to get their BSN or MSN will be glad they did. Flexibility is worth everything. Who do you think an administration would cut back on first? ADN? BSN? Think about it. While your in the drudgery of schooling, you might as well nail down 4-5 more semesters.
  10. Bad practice! Cramming will only make it worse. Learn as you go. You should be relaxing and having fun the night before any exam. I always go to a late movie and then eat at a late night restaurant the eve of test day. I figure if I don't know the material by then, I don't deserve to pass. Not flaming you.
  11. As a nurse, do you find time to have fun outside of work? Or is it all you can do to find 'extra' time to have a little R&R? Do you get called in on time off? What about taking a vaction? Does nursing end up to become a boring hum drum job after you have 'mastered' the trade? Do you get tired of the same co-workers and the same BS policies, etc...? What would your ideal job be?
  12. A doctor was having an affair with his nurse. Shortly afterward, she told him she was pregnant. Not wanting his wife to know, he gave the nurse a sum of money and asked her to go to Italy and have the baby there. ''But how will I let you know the baby is born?'' she asked. He replied, ''Just send me a postcard and write 'spaghetti' on the back. I'll take care of expenses.'' Not knowing what else to do, the nurse took the money and flew to Italy. Six months went by and then one day the doctor's wife called him at the office and explained, ''Dear, you received a very strange postcard in the mail today from Europe, and I don't understand what it means.'' The doctor said, ''Just wait until I get home and I will explain it to you.'' Later that evening, the doctor came home, read the postcard, fell to the floor with a heart attack. Paramedics rushed him to the ER. The lead medic stayed back to comfort the wife. He asked what trauma had precipitated the cardiac arrest. So the wife picked up the card and read, ''Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti - Two with sausage and meatballs, two without.'''
  13. How did my OP go from bottlenecking ER to Iraq? I think if we focus on one problem at a time, perhaps a solution shall follow. Maybe I am hoping too much.
  14. If you have ever read Echo Heron's book, she talks about a room that the window keeps opening. She even locked it and literally watched the window unlock and go up by itself. For those who believe in the afterlife, the explanation could be as easy as spiritual manifestation. People do die in hospitals. Death=spiritual manifestations.
  15. I am still a student and I have to ask this question. Would you truly say you are happy when you go to work or do you dread going in? Are you a clockwatcher? Do you think if you had it to do all over again you wouldve went another route? Have any of you thought it so bad that you were really feeling REALLY low? I do know that doctors have the highest rate of suicide among all professions. Where do nurses rank?
  16. I have seen many threads reflecting people who are having doubts and are in need of encouragement. Is there wisdom in telling students that to try harder and never give up when in fact nursing may not be the career that they should be in anyway. I suppose what attracts me about nursing is the flexibility to move around the country and to work in different units if I become bored with another. But does this motive prove to get me through the program and ensure me lifelong satisfaction in my career. I don't really know. I often think of the feces, blood and other bodily fluids. Not to mention the diseases that come with it. Do I want to expose myself to these diseases and possibly take them home to my family? Do I want some crabby head nurse and/or doctor bossing me around like a two year old after I have vested vast amounts of learning and money to become an important asset to society? I don't believe this profession to be a 'peaches and cream' field. Just thinking.
  17. I believe that many people abuse the current health care system. People have the notion just because they have health care insurance, medicare or medicaid that they can go to the doctor for every bruise, sniffle and cough. Many times these minor incidents are brought into ER which bottlenecks the unit preventing more serious illnesses/injuries to be treated in a timely manner. Furthermore, those who are not insured and have no means to pay the bill line up out the door as well. And to say we are not a socialist country would be farce. This has prevented proper treatment for those who need it the most and I am quite disgusted that our government creates new laws every year to cater to more conjestion. I would like to know if there has ever been a study on doctors' analysis of the percentile of patients that really didn't need to be seen. I was managing a full service restaurant and a homeless man came in off the street and laid on the waiting bench in the lobby. This took away from the ambience of the restaurant as many patrons were distracted. I had asked the gentleman to either take a seat or vacate the premises. He asked if he could stay there from the rain and cold. I had told him that he could stay as long as he was a paying customer. After I had asked him four times to leave, I threatened to call law enforcement to remove him from the property. The man then stated he wanted me to call an ambulance because he was having a 'heart attack' from his own words. I phoned 911 immediately. Ambulance arrived shortly thereafter. Apparently he was a frequent patient because the medic informed me that this wasn't the first time this had happened. The medic also stated that his 'heart attack' story was bogus. The man just wanted a place to hang his head for a few. I know this is an extreme example of what I am making reference to, but this happens on a daily basis all across the nation. This has to stop. What do you think?
  18. Too philosophical for me. Where's Waldo?
  19. Equivelant to a kick in the orifice!
  20. It is all about attitude. Go into the interview with your head held high. You are an asset to society. You have earned your right. You have spent countless hours to get where you are. Dont forget who you are. Let yourself be the master of YOUR interview. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If youcan change your thought process along these lines, then you become superior to those who live in fear and those who lack sdelf esteem. Be strong and courageous. Life is what YOU make it.
  21. Steer clear of this situation. I have seen many get sucked into a problem trying to resolve that probelm with the outcome of becoming part of the problem. Sometimes it may be best to improve upon our own abilities becuase we all fall short in areas. Unfortunately management are human too and need support of subordinates instead of undermining behavior. It is best to maintain a positive attitude despite what the current situation holds. As an ex manager of a full service restaurant, I can appreciate those who support me when I feel I couldn't go on. The making of a good manager is by those who work with the manager. Try offering to help out any way possible and the rewards of your committment will be exceedingly great. Trust me. I know.
  22. How long has travel nursing been around? Will travel nursing ever cease to exist? Do travel nurses make more than regular nurses?
  23. I dont understand what the fuss is about. It isn't like there is a shortage of positions in any given location. Too many other opportunities to be *****ing about the lost ones.
  24. As a new nurse, you may not qualify for an agency, BUT!, pick a desired location that you want to go, find local newspapers online. Read help wanted adds. Fax resume to prospective employer. Employer will fly you out and put you up in hotel night prior to interview. After taking about 3-5 interviews, pick one you want to go with. Have them agree to put you up in a fully furnished apartment with your proposed salary. Give and take a little, not too much though. They need you more than you need them. They will probably want you to sign a year contract. Do it. At least you will be at your desired location for a year until you qualify for real travel nursing. You might even luck into a huge sign on bonus to boot. Bank the bonus and prepare to be a serious travel nurse. Also, if you throw 5-10K in a savings from bonuses and overtime, you could then relocate to a foreign country with a much lower exchange rate and goof off for a year or so perhaps doing a gig every now and then while you enjoy cheap living and having a huge ass vacation.
  25. I hear DisneyWorld is hiring.
