every 15 min...how many patients do you have at a time?? I can see fht q15 min but mvu's. every 15min???

The reason I ask is We think that this can be too much...just think FHR Q15 min, BP Q30 min, MVU's Q30 min and anything that needs to be doucmented. Now double this .... 2 patients, pit, epidural, iupc!!! this gets overwhelming. Calculating MVU's ta...

MVU's How often are you calculating your MVU's, we are being to told to document every 30 min...:wavey

We also have to do "Time-Outs" for epidurals...but this seems a little over the top! I guess we just have to get used to it.

We do about 3000 births a year, We staff 4 to 1 in our triage, 2 to 1, in active labor, 3 to 1 for anetpartums....we only have 1 nurse in an uncomplicated delivery. I come home most days exhausted.

At our facility we handle cord prolapses by pushing what ever part of the baby is putting presure on the cord up and staying in that position until the baby is out by c-section...that means being under the drape in the OR!! It is a true emergency!!

Our patients stay in L&D until they are off of the mag!!! Not fair to a PP nurse to give her even 2 other pp patients along with a mag, because we all know that 2pp patients really equal 4, 2 moms and 2 babies, along with mag patient, not fair.

Yes as stated above we also take beds apart, put them back on, roll numb patients up, over and down!! I always come home sore after a busy day!
